Tom Hiddleston's God of Mischief could steal the destiny that his adoptive brother, Thor, failed to meet thanks to his multiverse-saving actions in Phase 5's Loki season 2. After debuting as the menacing villain Loki in 2011's Thor, Hiddleston has gone on to have a fantastic journey in the MCU. Although Loki died at the hands of the Mad Titan Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, a variant of Loki escaped during the Avengers' Time Heist in Endgame to embark on a new adventure of his own. 2021's Loki season 1 sent the titular God of Mischief on a redemption arc, and this has only increased in 2023's Loki season 2.
The original version of Loki went through a redemption arc over the course of 2017's Thor: Ragnarok, which left him as a hopeful ally to his brother after Thor had finally assumed the throne of Asgard, despite the planet's destruction. Unfortunately, Loki died only moments later, but Phase 4's Loki season 1 thrust a variant of the God of Mischief through another redemption arc after he witnessed his entire life and death play out in the Time Variance Authority (TVA). During Loki season 2, Loki has become a hero, and by doing so, he could take over Thor's destiny in the MCU - one which Thor never managed to achieve.
Odin's Thor Prophecy Explained Close 2011's Thor featured the debut of the MCU's Asgard and the gods of Norse mythology, and though Loki always desired the throne of Asgard, it was his brother, Thor, who was destined to become King. This was always a point of contention between Loki and his father, Odin, with the former believing that Odin would have never let Loki become King, as he wouldn't want a Frost Giant on the Asgardian throne. This was cemented in 2013's Thor: The Dark World, when Odin claimed that Thor was destined to bring order to the Nine Realms before being crowned King. Unfortunately for Thor, however, this prophecy would never come to pass.
Thor did eventually become King of Asgard, but this only happened after Odin's death and the destruction of Asgard itself in 2017's Thor: Ragnarok, only moments before Thanos' attack on the cosmos in Avengers: Infinity War. While Thor remained King of New Asgard during Avengers: Endgame's five-year time-jump, his heart was never really in the role, as he was overcome with grief and depression. On top of this, order was never brought to the Nine Realms during Thor's reign. Loki's actions during his self-titled series could see him step up to the plate and replace his brother in this prophecy, as he could actually bring order to the MCU's multiverse.
Loki Saving The Multiverse Would Do What Thor Failed To

Where Thor failed, Loki can succeed. During Loki season 1, Loki's mission was to uncover the truth of the TVA, but after He Who Remains' death and the destruction of the Sacred Timeline, the fate of the multiverse is hanging in the balance. In Loki season 2, Loki is battling to bring stability back to the cosmos, hoping to repair the damage caused by He Who Remains' death. If Loki succeeds in this mission, fixing the Temporal Loom and restoring order to the multiverse, he will take his rightful place as a true hero in the MCU, and bring peace to the cosmos where Thor was never able to.
