5 Years Later, I"m Itching For 1 Major Avengers: Endgame Tease To Be Paid Off In The MCU

Summary
  • Avengers: Endgame provided the MCU's first, and only, tease towards Brian Braddock's Captain Britain, but he hasn't yet appeared.
  • I want Brian Braddock's Captain Britain to debut in the MCU's Multiverse Saga.
  • Brian Braddock and the Captain Britain Corps could be important to the MCU's future, helping the Avengers in their upcoming battles.
Five years after the release of Avengers: Endgame, I'm still waiting for one major MCU hero to be introduced. 2019's Avengers: Endgame focused primarily on wrapping up the storyline of the MCU's original Avengers team, but the Russo brothers' most recent Marvel Studios project also set up huge storylines for the franchise's future. Some of these have already been paid off, such as those involving Wanda Maximoff's Scarlet Witch, Sam Wilson's Captain America, and Peter Parker's Spider-Man, but there's still one that I'm waiting to get some resolution.
In a weird way, Avengers: Endgame could be considered to be both the ending of the Infinity Saga and the beginning of the MCU's Multiverse Saga. Endgame's Time Heist saw the Avengers travel to a number of alternate timelines, and come into contact with several variants of themselves and their allies. One of these side missions saw Tony Stark and Steve Rogers journey to 1970's Camp Lehigh, which gave Rogers the chance to get a glimpse of his lost love, Peggy Carter, who teased a very exciting new hero in the MCU that spoke to me personally.

I Don't Understand Why Marvel Hasn't Paid Off Avengers: Endgame's Brian Braddock Tease Close After Steve Rogers found himself in SHIELD Director Peggy Carter's office in 1970, he overhead a conversation between her and another SHIELD agent during which she mentioned that a unit including someone named "Braddock" needed back-up. While this could have been a simple easter egg for Marvel Comics fans, I'm much more inclined to believe that this was the Russo brothers' attempt at planting the seed for Brian Braddock's MCU debut. This got me very excited, as Brian Braddock becomes Captain Britain in Marvel Comics.
Avengers: Endgame's tease of Brian Braddock's existence in the MCU would have been the perfect jumping-off point to introduce the powerful British hero in the Multiverse Saga. I'm slightly disappointed that Marvel Studios hasn't followed through with this introduction. There have been plenty of chances for Braddock to make an appearance in live-action, and Endgame caused a rise in speculation that talents such as Henry Cavill or Riz Ahmed could be cast as the MCU's Captain Britain. Unfortunately, this has gone nowhere.
Brian Braddock made his Marvel Comics debut as Captain Britain in 1976's Captain Britain #1, part of the Marvel UK imprint.
I Desperately Want To See Brian Braddock’s Captain Britain Appear In The Multiverse Saga As a Brit, I would love to see the United Kingdom represented more in the MCU. The UK has been seen several times in the MCU's past, including in projects such as Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor: The Dark World, Avengers: Infinity War, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Moon Knight and Secret Invasion. In fact, the latter revealed that Nick Fury even has a home with his wife in London, so I'm surprised the UK hasn't been given a more prominent focus in the MCU. Brian Braddock's debut could change this massively.
Brian Braddock's Captain Britain is to the UK what Steve Rogers' Captain America is to the United States. It would be wonderful to see the UK represented by a signature, powerful superhero, especially if played by a British icon such as Cavill. Braddock's powers are inspired by medieval Britain in Marvel Comics, which would allow some of the UK's rich and mysterious history to be explored in the MCU. I'm still thinking about Avengers: Endgame's tease of Brian Braddock five years later, and waiting patiently for him to make his debut.

How Captain Britain Can Still Play An Important Role In The MCU's Multiverse Saga After receiving his powers from the Amulet of Right in Marvel Comics, Brian Braddock realizes he has become part of a bigger community of heroes, as he joins the multiversal Captain Britain Corps. Comprising different versions of Captain Britain from a variety of alternate realities, all fighting to protect their own United Kingdom and their otherworldly base of operations, Avalon. This makes the Multiverse Saga the perfect place to bring Captain Britain into the MCU, as the Captain Britain Corps would be a huge asset to the franchise.
Avengers: Endgame has, so far, provided the MCU's only Captain Britain tease, with subsequent Multiverse Saga projects going quiet on the hero. However, there is still plenty of Multiverse Saga left, as this chapter of the MCU isn't expected to conclude until 2027's Avengers: Secret Wars. This means Brian Braddock and the Captain Britain Corps could still debut in an upcoming project, and could help Earth's Mightiest Heroes and heroes from other universes in the fight against the MCU's upcoming multiversal villains.
