DCU Batman Movie Title Breaks An 81-Year-Old Dark Knight Trend

Summary
  • The upcoming Batman movie, The Brave and the Bold, breaks the tradition of including Batman's name in the title.
  • The DC Universe aims to integrate TV shows and video games to create a connected universe across different media.
  • The film will introduce Batman's son, Damian Wayne, and explore their complex father/son relationship.
The title of the upcoming Batman movie from the DC Universe is breaking a decades-old character trend, though it could still respect this tradition if it decides to. The DC Universe is rebooting what the DC Extended Universe built on the big screen with DC Comics characters and integrating TV shows and video games, finally and properly building a connected universe across different media. For this, the DC Universe will keep some characters introduced by the DCEU and will bring new versions of some of DC Comics’ most popular characters, among them Batman.
Batman has had an interesting history on the big screen full of ups and downs. Batman’s film debut arrived in 1943 with a serial film simply titled Batman, but he found great success on the big screen in 1989 with Tim Burton’s Batman. Since then, the Caped Crusader has gone through different versions in different universes, the most recent one being Ben Affleck’s version in the DCEU. Now, the DC Universe will bring another version of Batman (while Matt Reeves’ lives in a different branch of this universe), but this movie is already breaking an 81-year-old Batman trend.
