Agatha All Along Episode 3 Easter Eggs & Marvel References

Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Agatha All Along episode 3Agatha All Along episode 3 is full of exciting Easter eggs and MCU references, and one in particular is one that fans have been waiting for since WandaVision. Having arrived on the Witches" Road at the end of the new series" second episode, Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) and her brand-new coven embark on their very first trial in Agatha All Along episode 3. Facing their past as well as an uncertain future, the new episode is full of exciting clues and teases.
In Agatha All Along episode 3, Agatha and her fellow witches face their first trial on the Witches Road. Facing their past as well as their darkest nightmares, nearly every member of the coven is tested before they"re allowed to continue on their journey. To that end, here are all the biggest and most exciting Easter eggs and references in Agatha All Along episode 3.
10 Teen’s Sigil Someone Blocked Teen's Identity To All Witches As the coven starts heading down the Witches Road, Jennifer Kale (Sasheer Zamata) finally asks Teen (Joe Locke) who he really is. When he replies, the same magical effect happens and none of the witches can hear his name. This confirms that Agatha Harkness isn"t the only one who"s blocked from knowing Teen"s true identity and history in Agatha All Along.
As confirmed by Lilia Calderu (Patti Lupone), someone has cast a spell/glamour to put a sigil on Teen, blocking his presence and true identity to all witches. Naturally, this makes him all the more intriguing to the witches, though no indication has been given as to who might have cast this sigil. That said, Agatha promises her fellow witches that eventually they"ll figure it out once they continue down the Road.
9 Amulets Every Witch Has One (Not Just Agatha) Eventually, the Witches" Road turns to a sandy walkway that leads to a beach house by the sea. Walking through the front door, the entire coven of witches is surprised to discover that their clothes and appearances have been altered to match their new setting. However, they also find that each of them still has their amulet.
Not only does this confirm that every witch seemingly has their own amulet just like Agatha"s, but it also teases just how important amulets must be for those practicing witchcraft in the MCU. To that end, it also makes the mystery of Agatha"s amulet/locket in particular all the more interesting. This includes the mysterious lock of hair she keeps inside hers which was revealed in Agatha All Along"s premiere, and who it might belong to.
8 Huge Tiny Lies Agatha Episode 3 Is An Homage To HBO's Big Little Lies Exploring this luxurious new house by the sea, Mrs. Hart (Debra Jo Rupp) comments that it feels like the show "Huge Tiny Lies". As such, this is more than likely a tongue-in-cheek reference on Marvel"s part to Big Little Lies, the two-season series starring Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, Zoë Kravitz, and Meryl Streep about a murder investigation. As such, the entire trial itself in Agatha All Along episode 3 feels like an homage to the HBO series (setting, costumes, and all).
7 "An Agent of Mephisto" Mephisto Finally Confirmed In The MCU While the rest of the coven discusses the particulars of their first trial, Jennifer Hale speaks with Teen in private, warning him to watch his back around Agatha. After all, Hale shares with Teen the stories about what Harkness supposedly did to her own son Nicholas Scratch who was teased in Agatha All Along"s premiere. According to the stories, it"s said that Agatha apparently traded Scratch for her copy of the Darkhold. As dark as that is, the real shock and surprise are the rumors about what Scratch supposedly became in the aftermath: An agent of Mephisto.
Having been theorized by MCU fans throughout WandaVision, Marvel Comics" Mephisto was seemingly seen behind every shadow and bug that appeared in the show, only for fans to ultimately be disappointed by its end when he never appeared.
However, Marvel Studios has finally confirmed that Mephisto does indeed exist in the MCU. While none can say for sure, it"s been said that Agatha"s son might have become one of the demon lord"s agents (though he may have also just died).
6 "She Wouldn’t Recognize Her Own Son" Is Teen Secretly Nicolas Scratch? Regardless of whether Nicholas Scratch is an agent of Mephisto or not, Jennifer also adds that Agatha likely wouldn"t recognize her own son if he showed up on her doorstep. Naturally, the unsaid implication viewers are meant to consider is that Teen himself might somehow be Nicholas Scratch, seeing as how his identity remains a mystery. This would certainly be a big surprise, seeing as how all the prevailing clues and theories thus far have pointed to Teen being Wanda"s reincarnate son, Billy Kaplan aka Wiccan.
The other and arguably more likely option is that Nicholas Scratch will later be revealed as the leader of the Salem Seven who are currently hunting Agatha as seen in the show"s first two episodes. In the original Marvel Comics, the Salem Seven were the children of Scratch. As such, perhaps something along those lines will be revealed as Agatha All Along continues.
5 "A Lot Happened To Me At 13" Teen Was 13 During WandaVision Teen also gets the chance to talk one-on-one with Alice Wu-Gulliver (Ali Ahn) in Agatha All Along episode 3. Asking about the tattoo on her arm, the protection witch confirms her mom made her get it to ward off curses when she was 13. Teen responds that a lot happened to him at 13 as well. Seeing as how Teen is currently 16, this is rather notable considering WandaVision occurred three years ago (when Teen was 13). As such, it"s another potential clue that Teen"s identity is connected somehow to Wanda Maximoff (the most likely being that he"s Billy).
4 "The Sound of Fairies Crying" Fairies Are Confirmed In The MCU Having been the first to drink the wine the coven found in the house, Mrs. Hart is the first to start showing symptoms of its poison. Asking her about any other symptoms as her own face starts swelling up, Jennifer asks Mrs. Hart if she can hear "the sound of crying fairies". Much like Loki season 1 being the first time vampires were referenced and confirmed to exist, Agatha All Along has confirmed the existence of fairies in the MCU.
In the original Marvel Comics, fairies are typically found in the realm known as Otherworld or Avalon. They are also related to the Dark and Light Elves of the Asgardian Nine Realms. To that end, it would be very exciting if fairies eventually make their on-screen debut in the MCU, either in a future episode of Agatha All Along or in some other project.
3 "Wanda, Please Let Him Breathe!" Mrs. Hart Hallucinates The Scarlet Witch After drinking the poisoned wine, each of the witches is faced with a nightmare from their pasts near the end of Agatha All Along episode 3. This includes Mrs. Hart who was the first to hallucinate a dark moment from her past. While what she sees is not seen on-screen, Mrs. Hart is shown begging Wanda to "please let him breathe" before she passes out.
As such, it seems Mrs. Hart was brought back to her husband"s death which this new episode likely confirms was caused by Wanda"s Hex. As seen in WandaVision, certain parts of the Hex that the Scarlet Witch wasn"t directly engaged with were in a limbo state where residents were either stuck in loops or were frozen entirely. As such, Mrs. Hart seems to be tragically implying in Agatha All Along that her husband died because Wanda wasn"t letting him breathe (though Maximoff probably wasn"t even aware it was happening).
2 The Darkhold Did Agatha Trade Her Son For The Book of the Damned? Having been the last to drink, Agatha is subsequently the last to experience a dark hallucination from her past. In Harkness" case, Agatha is shown a baby"s cradle, one that holds the Darkhold rather than the crying child she"d heard before removing the blanket. While this lends credence to Jennifer"s claims that she traded her son for her copy of the Book of the Damned, Agatha"s apparent grief and horror-stricken reaction over the Darkhold suggest that there"s far more to the story that"s yet to be revealed.
1 "Heads Will Roll" - Yeah Yeah Yeahs Agatha All Along Episode 3's End-Credits Song Is Quite Fitting 2009"s "Heads Will Roll" by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs plays during the credits sequence for Agatha All Along episode 3. This is rather fitting, especially due to the recurring verses connected to Alice in Wonderland"s "Looking Glass" as well as "take the past". After all, Agatha and her coven have arguably gone through the looking glass now that they"re on the Witches" Road, as well as facing their respective dark pasts as their first trial.
