Superman & Lois Sets Up Lois" Superpowers With A Dark Twist

WARNING: Spoilers for Superman & Lois season 3, episode 3
The direction of Superman & Lois season 3’s story sets up a dark twist where Lois Lane gets powers of her own. So far, The CW series has stuck to the traditional portrayal of the iconic DC Comics reporter, whose journalistic instincts are her real superpower. But looking at where the story is going, the show may not be a long way off from breaking this classic formula.
Superman & Lois is in the process of delivering one of Lois’ most difficult journeys yet. Much to her shock, Lois has learned that she’s suffering from stage 3 inflammatory breast cancer. Based on this reveal, it’s clear that fighting and overcoming the cancer will be at the forefront of Superman & Lois season 3’ story, as it not only impacts Lois, but is also something sure to have a profound effect on the Kent family as a whole. From the looks of things, they’ll have to balance this ongoing battle with their efforts to take down Chad L. Coleman’s Bruno Mannheim, the leader of Intergang.
Superman & Lois’ Cancer Story Sets Up Lois Getting Powers Interestingly, there are alarming parallels between Lois’ health crisis and their investigation into Mannheim. Situations like the one with Henry Miller’s Atom-Man proves that Mannheim’s experiments revolve around patients with terminal illnesses. This detail creates a foreboding link between Bruno Mannheim's Intergang and Lois’ problem. The fact that both of these storylines are playing out at once support the notion that the series is setting up Lois Lane to become one of the villain’s test subjects. Her illness has not reached that critical point yet, but if it does, that could be how season 3 connects these storylines.
