Wild MCU Theory Reveals Kang Defeated Captain America (Not Thor)

WARNING: Spoilers for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
A wild new MCU theory explains that Kang’s Thor comment in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was secretly about Captain America. In the first Phase 5, Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror made a surprising revelation when he mentioned his history with the Avengers. Judging by this exchange with Ant-Man, Kang has actually killed members of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes – one of which being the God of Thunder himself.
Exactly what happened wasn’t articulated in the movie, but the impression that the MCU's Kang killed a multiversal Thor began with Kang realizing Scott was an Avenger, asking if he had killed him before, and then wondering if Scott was “the one with the hammer.” The clear implication here is that another version of Thor was a casualty of a fight between the Avengers and Kang. But of course, their conversation confirms nothing about this encounter or its outcome. There may be more to the story than what Kang lets on. In fact, one theory suggests that Kang never even fought Thor in the first place. Here’s why it’s being postulated that Kang’s real opponent was actually Chris Evans’ Captain America.
Captain America Also Fits Kang’s Thor Tease “The one with the hammer” is obviously meant to be a Thor reference, but in the context of Avengers: Endgame, it could also serve as a secret connection to Captain America. In Endgame, Steve Rogers took it upon himself to return the Infinity Stones to their proper places in the timestream. Before embarking on this mission, he took Mjolnir with him, as it too had to be returned after Thor took it from Asgard during their trip to Asgard in 2013. What occurred after that wasn’t explained, but it can be presumed from Steve’s MCU ending that he eventually succeeded in putting the hammer back.
What all this means is that Captain America was traveling with Mjolnir for an unspecified period of time. With that being the case, Marvel now has two Avengers that fit Kang’s “the one with the hammer” tease. After all, it shouldn’t be forgotten that the scene with Captain America fighting Thanos with Mjolnir wasn’t a one-off for the character. That may be the only time he’s used it onscreen, but there’s no telling how long his adventure in the timestream lasted or what struggles he went through to return the Infinity Stones. Steve could have engaged in multiple MCU battles along the way.
