Much is known about the MCU's Phase 5 plans now they've gotten in motion, and that includes the confirmation of a number of villains set to appear in the franchise. 7 Agatha Harkness Is One Of Phase 5's Most Anticipated Characters Agatha: Coven of Chaos Close After her role as WandaVision's largely hidden villain, Kathryn Hahn's Agatha Harkness is set to return to the MCU in Phase 5. Agatha is set to feature in her own series, Agatha: Coven of Chaos, which is set to introduce a number of other characters into the franchise. Wilson Fisk is set to make multiple appearances in Phase 5 of the MCU, featuring as a villain in both Echo and Daredevil Reborn. As one of the main enemies of Marvel's street-level heroes, Kingpin's continued presence in the MCU is especially exciting, with D'Onofrio's celebrated performance in the role serving to make his Phase 5 appearances anticipated even more fervently.
5 The Leader Makes Good On A Decade-Old Marvel Tease Captain America: Brave New World Though it remains one of the MCU's worst-received movies, 2008's The Incredible Hulk made multiple franchise teases set to pay off in Phase 5. Alongside the rumored appearance of Red Hulk, Samuel Sterns - A.K.A. The Leader, Hulk's mutated, super-intelligent nemesis - will return. Tim Blake Nelson will reprise his role, finally paying off a 15-year-old tease by serving as a major MCU villain in Captain America: Brave New World.
4 Thunderbolt Ross/Red Hulk Can Finally Bring A Long-Awaited Villain To The MCU Thunderbolts Despite being a prominent Marvel Comics character, General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross has been relatively absent from the MCU in spite of his early introduction into the franchise. Initially played by the late William Hurt in The Incredible Hulk, Captain America: Civil War, and Black Widow, the role was recast following Hurt's death. Both Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts are set to feature Harrison Ford as General Ross, who will also reportedly become the Red Hulk within the franchise, paying off one of the MCU's earliest villain teases.
3 The Hood Brings Magic Into Ironheart's Debut Series Ironheart Though he's a slightly more obscure Marvel villain than many already in the franchise, Ironheart is set to introduce the Hood into the MCU. In the Phase 5 Disney+ series, Anthony Ramos will play Parker Robbins, a criminal whose hood allows him to use dark magic. Though it's not confirmed whether Hood will serve as the series' antagonist, he's an exciting villain to be making his debut in the MCU's Phase 5 - and has only increased speculation that Mephisto may finally appear in the show, due to his own ties to dark magic.
2 The HYDRA Stomper Lets Steve Rogers Be A Villain Once More What If Season 2 What If? season 1 saw its version of Steve Rogers become the HYDRA Stomper, utilizing a large Stark-created mechanized suit to support Captain Carter in her fight against HYDRA. It was revealed that What If? season 2 will pit Carter against the HYDRA Stomper, presumably after Rogers is employed as an agent of the evil organization. The nature of What If?'s Multiversal premise makes the character's villain turn incredibly enticing, and after his heroic actions in season 1, it's possible Rogers will undergo his own Winter Soldier storyline in the series.
1 Alternate Universe Star-Lord What If Season 2 What If? season 2 also provides a look at another unexpected story of a main MCU timeline hero being an antagonist in an alternate universe, this time showing what a young Peter Quill could have been like had his youth seen him stay on Earth instead of being taken up to space. The What If? season 2 trailer suggests this Quill would've been a more antagonistic force, likely not understanding the full ramifications of using his immense half-Celestial powers.
MCU Actors Playing Unnamed Villains In Phase 5Emma Corrin - Deadpool 3 English actor Emma Corrin has been announced as the main antagonist in Deadpool 3. The film will see both Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman reprise their respective roles of Deadpool and Wolverine and will reportedly introduce the pair into the MCU. Corrin being cast in the undisclosed villain role is particularly interesting given their most well-known credits coming from serious roles in dramas such as The Crown and Lady Chatterley's Lover.
Mia Goth - Blade Close 2025's Blade will formally introduce the eponymous vampire hunter to the MCU, with Mia Goth appearing as a Phase 5 villain in the film. Best known for her roles in horror movies X, Pearl, and 2018's remake of Suspiria, Goth will undoubtedly bring a dark edge to her upcoming MCU role. Marvel villains she is likely to have been cast as include Queen Cilla, Rachel Van Helsing, and Satana Hellstrom, although the villain's identity remains unconfirmed.
Aubrey Plaza - Agatha: Coven Of Chaos Known for her deadpan delivery and comedic ability, Aubrey Plaza will reportedly appear as a villain in the Phase 5 MCU series Agatha: Coven of Chaos. Alongside Kathryn Hahn, the comedic potential of the pairing cannot be understated. It is assumed that Plaza's villain will be magical in nature, and though their identity has yet to be confirmed, Plaza's induction into the Marvel Cinematic Universe is certainly cause for excitement.
