A Marvel Studios theory suggests that the newest variant of Kang the Conqueror introduced in Loki season 2 may have a larger role in the MCU as a powerful Young Avenger. Jonathan Majors debuted as a variant of Kang the Conqueror in the finale of Loki season 1, and though he has portrayed several other variants in other projects, Majors returned in Loki season 2, introducing a new Kang variant to the MCU. Since Jonathan Majors' future in the MCU is in jeopardy following his 2023 arrest and assault allegations, there is speculation that a new actor could replace him, and Loki season 2 may have created the perfect candidate.
So far, Jonathan Majors has portrayed six primary variants of Kang the Conqueror in the MCU, including He Who Remains, Kang the Conqueror, Immortus, Rama-Tut, the Scarlet Centurion and Victor Timely in Loki season 2. During Loki season 2, Victor Timely's knowledge of time came in handy as Loki's team at the Time Variance Authority tried to adjust the Temporal Loom to manage the multiverse's new infinite branching realities. Evidently, Timely's work with the TVA ended up being inconsequential, but a very different storyline for the new Kang the Conqueror variant may have been perfectly set up in Loki season 2, according to a theory shared by Reddit user VictorrTimely.
Related The MCU Moving Away From Kang Just Became A Lot More Possible Recent news surrounding the development of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty suggests Marvel Studios may be changing their plans for Kang the Conqueror. Victor Timely’s Future Without TVA Intervention Is Unclear Close Loki and Mobius first found Victor Timely in the 19th Century, where he'd grown into a prominent inventor. However, this duo weren't the first to come across the new Kang variant, as rogue TVA judge Ravonna Renslayer and anthropomorphic clock Miss Minutes approached him years earlier. In an effort to manipulate his life, Renslayer and Miss Minutes gifted a young Victor Timely a TVA guidebook, which allowed him to develop his prototype Temporal Loom and become a master of time. Loki season 2's finale saw time rewritten, however, as Victor Timely no longer received a guidebook, which could set up an even more dramatic future for the young inventor.
Even without the TVA's intervention in his childhood, Victor Timely is still a variant of Multiverse Saga villain Kang the Conqueror, so his future in the MCU is unclear after Loki season 2. Left to his own devices, there's no way of knowing what Timely will grow up to be, though his childhood passion for invention perhaps suggests he will continue to innovate as he grows into an adult. While it's possible Victor Timely's new future won't be revealed, a fan theory shared on Reddit suggests a much more prominent role for Timely as the Multiverse Saga progresses, as he could become central to the MCU's Young Avengers team.
Victor Timely Becomes Iron Lad: MCU Theory Explained The Reddit theory notes that the young version of Victor Timely could, in fact, become the prominent superhero Iron Lad in the MCU's future. Iron Lad is a version of Nathaniel Richards - Kang the Conqueror's real name - who became an armored superhero after renouncing his destiny as a supervillain. This happened after an adult Kang traveled back in time in an effort to influence the younger Richards' life, hoping for him to avoid making the mistakes that Kang himself had made during his villainous career. As a superhero in the present day, Nathaniel Richards helped to form Marvel Comics' Young Avengers, though he ultimately couldn't escape his fate.
Nasri Thompson portrayed the young Victor Timely in his first major acting role.
In Loki season 2, Nasri Thompson portrayed the young Victor Timely in his first major acting role, following an appearance in the short film Dirt in the Diamond and an upcoming role in the short film Shadow. The Reddit theory suggests that Thompson's version of Victor Timely could be met by his older self, though this interaction would lead to him transforming into the superhero Iron Lad. Iron Lad has been speculated to be debuting in the MCU for several years, so this would be a great way to continue Timely's story from Loki season 2, and will be a solid explanation for Jonathan Majors' potential recasting in the role.
MCU’s Young Avengers Have Recently Been Teased Marvel Studios' introduction of Iron Lad would complete the Young Avengers puzzle that has been building up throughout the MCU's Phases 4 and 5. 2023's The Marvels provided the most recent Young Avengers tease, as Kamala Khan approached Kate Bishop with the prospect of forming a new superhero team, inspired by her experiences with Carol Danvers and Monica Rambeau. This MCU theory suggests that a teenage Victor Timely could join the upcoming team as Iron Lad, perhaps helping to bring down his adult variants. The future of Loki season 2's storylines is uncertain, so this would perfectly tie the Disney+ series to the wider world of the MCU.
