Picard’s Best Star Trek Borg Story Can’t Happen Now

Warning: SPOILERS for Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Finale - "The Last Generation"The fate of the Borg Collective in Star Trek: Picard season 3's finale means Star Trek's best Borg story can't happen now. The Borg Queen, who was voiced by Alice Krige and embodied by Jane Edwina Seymour, was revealed as Star Trek: Picard season 3's uber-villain. The Borg achieved its ultimate victory by assimilating Starfleet via Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers), who became Vox of Borg, but Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and the crew of the USS Enterprise-D saved Jack and handed the Borg their final defeat.
However, Star Trek: Picard season 2 introduced a second faction of the Borg. After Picard and his friends were shunted by Q (John de Lancie) to the dark alternate timeline ruled by the Confederation, they met this reality's Borg Queen (Annie Wersching). The ruthless Confederation annihilated the Borg, with the broken Queen the sole remaining member of her race. But the diabolical Borg Queen targeted Dr. Agnes Jurati (Allison Pill) for assimilation. Yet a funny thing happened: Jurati emerged as a positive influence on the Borg Queen and, as a hybrid cyborg being, they created a more benevolent version of the Borg together. At the end of Star Trek: Picard season 2, Agnes Jurati's Borg became provisional members and defenders of the United Federation of Planets in Star Trek's Prime timeline.
