The Flash Season 9 Just Made A Controversial Character Make Way More Sense

Warning: The following contains SPOILERS for The Flash season 9, episode 12, "A New World, Part Three."The Flash season 9, episode 12 finally provided an explanation as to why Cecile Horton has become so overpowered. The lawyer has been a part of the Arrowverse series since The Flash season 1, originally introduced as Central City's no-nonsense District Attorney. Cecile went on to enter into a romantic relationship with Detective Joe West and became the team mother of Team Flash, even before her pregnancy awakened her metagene. This gave Cecile incredible empathy powers, which slowly expanded into telepathy. The later seasons of The Flash developed Cecile into one of the most powerful psychics on Earth-Prime.
The penultimate episode of The Flash season 9, "A New World, Part Three," revealed just how powerful Cecile Horton had become, with the revelation that Cecile's telepathy could extend across time. This led Cecile to send her consciousness into the body of her future self, to save a depowered and displaced Barry Allen from the Negative Speed Force. The incident also inspired Cecile to adopt the codename Virtue, based on a pep-talk delivered to her by Chester Runk. This tied Cecile to an obscure DC Comics character, while also explaining her ever-increasing power levels.
