The Flash Finally Explains A Major Eddie Thawne Mystery After 9 Years

Warning: The following contains SPOILERS for The Flash season 9, episode 11, "A New World, Part Two."The mystery of what happened to Eddie Thawne's body was finally addressed in The Flash season 9. The CCPD detective and romantic rival of Barry Allen sacrificed himself to stop the Reverse-Flash during The Flash season 1 finale. Eddie's body was later pulled into the singularity formed by the paradox of the Reverse-Flash's death, with no clue as to what became of it.
The return of Eddie Thawne after his heroic yet pointless death has been teased repeatedly since The Flash season 1, with actor Rick Cosnett having made several guest appearances as Eddie in visions and hallucinations. Cosnett's latest appearance in The Flash season 9, episode 10, "A New World, Part One," was completely different. This time, he was playing a new character, a scientist at Mercury Labs named Dr. Malcolm Gilmore, who was the spitting image of Eddie Thawne. Despite this, there was no apparent connection between Malcolm and Eddie until Malcolm was struck by lightning, like Barry Allen, and found a copy of Eddie Thawne's autopsy report in his lab.
