Marvel Studios has finally confirmed the identity of the mysterious black heart in Agatha All Along, harking back to the series" previous episodes and even all the way back to Phase 4"s WandaVision. One of Agatha All Along"s most persistent mysteries has surrounded the true identity of the black heart that was first mentioned in episode 2, "Circle Sewn With Fate, Unlock Thy Hidden Gate." A black heart was drawn on the list of names that Lilia Calderu suggested as Agatha Harkness" perfect coven in the MCU, and theories suggested this could have been referring to Rio Vidal.
Aubrey Plaza"s Rio Vidal is an exciting character in Agatha All Along, and there have been many theories hinting at a powerful secret identity for the original MCU villain. However, while some have theorized that Lilia"s black heart belonged to Vidal, perhaps supported by her own comments in Agatha All Along"s premiere, Agatha All Along episode 6, "Familiar By Thy Side," reveals the black heart belongs to someone very different. This changes how Agatha All Along"s previous episodes are viewed, and could hark back to 2021"s WandaVision in a brilliant way.
Agatha All Along Reveals Who Episode 2’s Black Heart Is & It’s Not Rio Vidal Rio Vidal Described Herself As Having A Black Heart In Agatha All Along Episode 1, "Seekest Thou The Road" Close Since Rio Vidal suggested that her heart is black and beats for Agatha Harkness in Agatha All Along"s premiere, many figured that the black heart drawn by Lilia on her list would have been referring to Vidal, apparently a Green Witch. However, Agatha All Along episode 6 seems to suggest that the black heart was actually referring to Joe Locke"s "Teen," who has recently been outed as Billy Maximoff"s Wiccan. Miles Gutierrez-Riley"s Eddie referred to Billy as his heart in episode 6, using the black heart emoji in a text, all but confirming this is who Lilia meant.

Agatha All Along episode 6 also confirmed that it was Lilia who put the sigil on William Kaplan prior to him becoming Billy Maximoff. By doing this, she instantly forgot ever having met him, which meant that she also couldn"t write Billy"s name on her list, with the image of a black heart being the next best thing. The previous prevailing theory had named Rio Vidal as Blackheart, the demon Mephisto"s child from Marvel Comics. Removing this theory from the equation may support the new theory that Rio Vidal is actually Lady Death in Agatha All Along.
Lilia's Black Heart Confirms Something Huge About Billy Maximoff Joe Locke Was Finally Revealed To Be Playing Billy Maximoff In Agatha All Along Episode 5, "Darkest Hour, Wake Thy Power"

The idea of Rio Vidal being Lady Death and not the essential Green Witch that Agatha Harkness" coven of witches tried to summon to the Witches" Road is supported in another way because of episode 6"s black heart reveal. The fact that Lilia Calderu was referring to Billy Maximoff when drawing her black heart proves that he was always supposed to be a member of Agatha Harkness" coven. This, in turn, confirms that Rio Vidal was never supposed to be there, which could also imply that she isn"t actually a Green Witch, and is indeed Lady Death.

If this is the case, and Billy Maximoff was always intended to be an official member of Agatha Harkness" coven, then it seems likely that he will receive his own trial on the Witches" Road. So far, Jennifer Kale, Alice Wu-Gulliver and Agatha Harkness have been given their trials, while Lilia Calderu"s is yet to come. It could have previously been assumed that Rio Vidal would have received a trial, but if she is Lady Death, this doesn"t seem possible. Instead, Billy Maximoff may get his, which could further explain his return to the MCU after three years.

Agatha All Along"s black heart mystery has reminded many viewers of WandaVision"s premiere, which saw Wanda Maximoff and Vision trying to work out what a mysterious black heart drawn on their calendar meant. This turned out to be dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Hart, Vision"s boss and his wife, who returned as Sharon Davis, inside the Westview Hex. However, this could have also been teasing Billy Maximoff"s significance as the black heart in Agatha All Along all the way back in WandaVision, several episodes before the young Wiccan was even born.
