The 2000s era of Marvel movies gets honored in a new fan-made Avengers: Secret Wars poster with Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. As the Marvel Cinematic Universe gets closer to the end of Phase 5, the building blocks are being put in place for Phase 6, which will conclude The Multiverse Saga in 2027. While the MCU timeline has already had various cameos from non-Marvel Studios movies, more familiar faces may be stopping by before The Multiverse Saga ends with Avengers: Secret Wars.
As the MCU gets closer to Avengers: Secret Wars, the audience has various expectations and hopes for character pair-ups, both from established MCU franchises and Marvel properties that came before. One combination that continues to be highly demanded for Avengers: Secret Wars is Jackman's Wolverine and Maguire's Spider-Man, and they are brought together by Doctor Strange in a new fan poster by AGT Design.
Maguire made his triumphant return as Spider-Man in 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home, starring alongside Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield's iterations of the Marvel icon. Then, Jackman was brought into the MCU fold through Deadpool & Wolverine, playing a new Wolverine variant after initially finishing his run back in 2017's Logan.

Close At the time of this story's publication, there has been no indication of either Maguire or Jackman being part of the Avengers: Secret Wars cast. However, as MCU fans are aware, Marvel Studios is known for always having a lot of deals in the works with various actors that sometimes don't get revealed until much later. Given how successful both Jackman's Wolverine and Maguire's Spider-Man returns were, it shouldn't come as a shock if Marvel Studios has already begun talking to them about Avengers: Secret Wars.
With the end of The Multiverse Saga, Marvel Studios will want to go as big as they can and feature a multitude of cameos, allowing for the biggest Marvel live-action crossover to happen. Avengers: Secret Wars is also rumored to be setting up a soft reboot of the MCU for Phase 7 and beyond. In this case, Avengers: Secret Wars will likely be the last time many of the Marvel actors are playing their respective roles, which is why it is even more important that people like Maguire and Jackman are back for Phase 6.
While Avengers: Doomsday, which will introduce Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, is expected to start filming in 2025, it's unclear yet if the film will shoot back-to-back with Avengers: Secret Wars. Since the Russo brothers are directing both movies, it would make sense if they were filmed very close to each other. Hopefully, as 2024 nears its end, more news about Avengers: Secret Wars will emerge sooner rather than later.
