The MCU's upcoming
Vision series for Disney+ features a variety of characters, both new and familiar to fans of the franchise. Potentially titled Vision Quest, the Vision series will be released in 2026, taking place after the events of WandaVision. Terry Matalas (12 Monkeys, Star Trek: Picard) will serve as showrunner for Vision, following Jac Schaeffer (WandaVision) stepping away from the development of the series to focus on Agatha All Along, the other MCU show following the events of WandaVision.
Part of the MCU's Multiverse Saga, the Vision series will follow Paul Bettany's character after WandaVision, which saw the character "resurrected" after his death in Avengers: Infinity War. In WandaVision, the character was brought back from the dead through the use of Wanda's magic, but didn't retain any of his memories from before. By the end of the WandaVision, a new body is rebuilt for Vision, eventually getting the memories of the old Vision from Wanda before going off on his own, which is where the Vision series will springboard off from.
Paul Bettany As Vision A Knight's Tale (2001), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), WandaVision (2021) Close
Paul Bettany has been in the MCU since the beginning with Iron Man, voicing Tony Stark's AI assistant, Jarvis. He appeared in various other films as Jarvis until becoming Vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron. His role as Vision became significant in Avengers: Infinity War as Thanos was after the Mind Stone embedded in his head. After dying and eventually being resurrected in WandaVision, Vision sets off to find his new purpose in life, which is what the upcoming series will explore.

Bettany shines as Vision, especially when exploring the more philosophical sides of the character. His relationship with Wanda was compelling as well, despite not being completely fleshed out, finally starting to do that in the WandaVision series. Bettany has been a familiar face within the MCU for so long, that it is nice to see him step into his own series with a character he has essentially been playing for the majority of it. Hopefully, the Vision series can be a way to reintroduce the character into the greater world of the MCU and eventually have him join in on bigger team-up movies once again.
James Spader As Ultron The Office (2011), The Blacklist (2013), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) Close James Spader was an inspired choice to play the titular Marvel villain in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
He lends a certain amount of gravitas to the character and his voice work in the film is really strong. Despite being the main antagonist of the film, it felt like Ultron wasn't explored as much as he could have been, even though Spader gave his all as the character. After being destroyed at the end of Age of Ultron, it felt like a wasted opportunity to have Spader's Ultron be a one-and-done villain.
Ultron did return to the MCU after Avengers: Age of Ultron in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and What If...?, but he was voiced by Ross Marquad instead of Spader.
It is such a smart choice for the MCU to bring back Ultron for the Vision series. The two are so closely tied to each other in the story as Vision was going to be the final evolution of Ultron.
The final confrontation between the two characters where they contemplate their own existences and identities before Vision finally destroys Ultron is incredible,
with Bettany and James Spader delivering knockout performances. Seeing more of that in the Vision series will be one of the major highlights and having Spader return makes it all the more enticing.
Todd Stashwick As An Assassin The Air I Breathe (2007), 12 Monkeys (2015), Star Trek: Picard (2023)
Todd Stashwick is a newcomer to the MCU, after having a variety of roles on television over the years. Recently,
he played Starfleet Captain Liam Shaw in the Paramount+ series Star Trek: Picard. He also played a significant part in the 12 Monkeys television series that ran from 2015-2018. His sci-fi television roots should work wonders for his upcoming role in the Vision series and his familiarity with the showrunner makes it seem like his role might be bigger than expected.
Terry Matalas was the showrunner for Star Trek: Picard and one of the main producers and writers of 12 Monkeys, meaning he has worked a lot with Stashwick over the years. According to THR,
Stashwick is set to play an assassin hunting down Vision for his technology, though nothing much beyond that is known about his character. Stashwick is a fantastic actor, though, and is a welcome addition to the Vision series that already has an astounding amount of talent with Bettany and Spader.

2 Despite being one of the most powerful heroes in the MCU, Vision has felt largely underutilized as a character for the majority of the franchise. Of course, he played a significant role in Avengers: Infinity War and WandaVision, but an entire series dedicated to Vision could do wonders for the character. Bringing back James Spader as Ultron is icing on the cake as the two characters have significant ties to each other in the MCU. The
Vision series is one of the most exciting projects on the horizon, following the events of one of the best shows of the MCU.
Vision Quest ActionAdventureScience Fiction Marvel Studios' Vision Quest is a limited series set in the MCU and released on Disney+. It reveals the fate of Paul Bettany's resurrected Avenger, which was last seen fleeing Westview at the end of 2021's WandaVision. After the original synthezoid died at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, his body was reassembled by the secret organization SWORD, and his consciousness was restored by Scarlet Witch's magically recreated version of the robot.
