A Marvel Cinematic Universe actor who played a role in a Phase 4 movie wants to be recast as an X-Men villain. Marvel's mutants have had a long cinematic journey. From 2000's X-Men starting the Fox Marvel films to the MCU's sole 2024 movie, Deadpool & Wolverine, bringing Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool, Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, and more mutants to the MCU, the X-Men have made their mark on movie history. Deadpool & Wolverine might be the first MCU project to focus on mutants that came from the Fox deal; however, X-Men characters have already started to pop up in the MCU.
Evan Peters played a version of Quicksilver — later revealed to be Ralph Bohner under a spell — in Disney+'s WandaVision. While the actor did not really play his character from Fox's X-Men movies, it was a start for the arrival of the X-Men in the MCU. Since then, Iman Vellani's Ms. Marvel was turned into a mutant, with variants of Patrick Stewart's Charles Xavier and Kelsey Grammer's Beast appearing in MCU movies throughout the multiverse. With Marvel's X-Men reboot coming soon, an MCU Phase 4 actor wants to be recast as a mutant villain.
Related Every Actor Who Played Multiple Roles In The MCU Throughout the history of the MCU, there have been multiple examples of actors being cast into multiple roles across the shared universe. Dallas Liu Wants To Be Recast As The MCU's Pyro The Actor Plays Prince Zuko In Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender Close Dallas Liu has recently exploded in popularity for playing the beloved role of Prince Zuko in Netflix's live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. However, before he got the major role in the series, the actor played a small character in the MCU three years ago. Liu was part of 2021's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. In the movie, the actor gave life to Ruihua Chen, the brother of Awkwafina's Katy.
The actor's role was minor, which is why Liu told Nerdist that he wants to be recast in the MCU as the X-Men villain Pyro. Liu first talked about playing Iceman before he revealed that he thinks Pyro is a better fit, saying, "Iceman is a good pick just because I felt like nobody wants to talk about him. But now I would have to say I’m fully Pyro. He’s so bad. So bad.” As Liu has experience playing a character with fire powers, a temper, and a good heart, Pyro seems like a great role for him.
Pyro has been depicted in a more positive light in Marvel Comics than in the X-Men movies, which is where the comparison to Zuko's kind heart comes from.
How Pyro Could Fit Into The MCU Marvel Studios Has Brought The Villain Back Aaron Stanford played Pyro in X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand. Now, Deadpool & Wolverine's first trailer has revealed that the actor will be back as the X-Men villain in the MCU movie. Pyro's return with Stanford in the role shows that the character is on Marvel Studios' radar. As such, Pyro has become a possible name to be part of the MCU's X-Men reboot. At 47, Stanford is too old to play the role in a new iteration of the mutant franchise. Based on that, a new actor, perhaps Liu, could play Pyro for the MCU's X-Men reboot.
