Predicting The MCU"s 3 Secret Movies With 2028 Release Dates

The release schedule for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) may be public years in advance, but Marvel Studios has remained quiet about what movies will come out in 2028, despite three new release dates being claimed. Since the release of Iron Man in 2008, the MCU has grown vastly with dozens of movies and TV shows expanding this cinematic behemoth. And, as Marvel hits its stride, the studio has stuck to a pattern of releasing roughly three new films each year. While the number of films has varied occasionally, Marvel has favored three specific periods over any other time of year.
One typically comes early, generally February, another occupies the summer spot, most often the larger tentpole pictures which release in May, and then one slot later in the year, typically November. While Marvel has announced all the titles due to come in 2025, there are two unallocated spots in 2026, and then a gap in 2027 which is currently only occupied by the massive event that is Avengers: Secret Wars in May. However, Marvel has gone ahead and claimed three more dates in 2028 with no titles attached.
World War Hulk Could Move The MCU On From The Multiverse February 18, 2028 Close First up on the slate, Marvel is set to release a film on February 18, 2028. With this movie coming out nearly a year after Avengers: Secret Wars, and no other dates between these movies being claimed or announced by Marvel, it can be anticipated that this will be a bigger film. The dust will have settled after the presumably enormous events that take place in Secret Wars, as the Multiverse Saga comes to a close, and the MCU will need to establish a new direction to move forward.
In the past, Marvel has explored the space side of heroes, and it"s spent considerable time with each of the original six Avengers, but Hulk remains the only member of that team to not get a dedicated solo movie since the 2008 film starring Edward Norton. However, Hulk"s presence has been felt more and more in the MCU, with his story connecting and guiding others.

The Long-Awaited MCU X-Men Reboot May 5, 2028 Close The most highly coveted spot for any Marvel movie is the summer release. May was the month that Iron Man came out in 2008, The Avengers in 2012, Captain America: Civil War in 2016, and both of the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars are set to come out, among many more. So it makes sense for this slot to be occupied by a movie that Marvel predicts to be one of the biggest and most successful new releases.

Well, looking at the titles that Marvel Studios has confirmed will be made in the near future, the much anticipated X-Men reboot could be the perfect film to fill this slot. The X-Men were already one of the most successful superhero teams before the MCU took off. With hints at new mutants in the MCU, such as in Ms. Marvel, these characters are ready to join the Sacred Timeline. And a year after Secret Wars it would make sense to have these heroes take the MCU in a new direction.
Deadpool & Wolverine already laid the groundwork for mutants to join the main timeline, but now it remains to be seen how the films clear the path for one of the most popular superhero teams of all time to join the world that up until now has been dominated by the Avengers. And in order to stay faithful to the X-Men"s comic book origins, these heroes have never been widely celebrated or praised, like the Avengers, so it remains to be seen if the events of Doomsday and Secret Wars will make heroes in general be more widely rejected and disdained.
Black Panther 3 Could Fill In A Lot Of Blanks For Secret Kingdoms November 10, 2028 Close Finally, the latest movie set to join the MCU"s roster is due to be released November 10, 2028. This slot has also featured some prominent titles in the MCU, but it is not quite the same scale as the summer spot. Previous entries in this month include Doctor Strange in 2016, Thor: Ragnarok in 2017, Eternals in 2021, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in 2022.

Other Possibilities For The Empty Marvel Release Slots There Are Plenty More Movies Still Due To Be Released By Marvel Close There remain two spots in 2026 which have yet to be assigned to Marvel movies, with one in February and the other in November. These films appear to have a pivotal point that ties them to the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga, and so they will likely be filled with movies that better reflect this era of the MCU. It"s possible that Shang-Chi"s sequel could fill the February slot, and Doctor Strange 3 fill in the November slot, since both movies deal with mysticism, and have ties to the character of Doctor Doom who will appear in Avengers: Doomsday in May 2026.
In regards to the above 2028 spots, it"s possible that none of the above movies will appear in those spots, but we do know that it will likely not be used for the upcoming Armor Wars, or Blade films, both of which have previously been announced, but have been delayed and removed from their spots to an indefinite pause. Another film which will not fill these spots is Spider-Man 4, because that movie is shared between the MCU and Sony, and it will not occupy a spot on their official announcements list with Disney.
