10 MCU Characters Whose Thanos Snap Fates We Still Don"t Know

Thanos' snap in Avengers: Infinity War erased several heroes from the MCU, but there are still many whose fates haven't been revealed. Marvel Studios concluded the MCU's Infinity Saga with the epic Infinity War and Endgame, which saw Earth's Mightiest Heroes take on the Mad Titan Thanos in a series of battles for the fate of the universe. Avengers: Infinity War ended with a tragic cliffhanger, however, as the Avengers failed to thwart Thanos' plan, leading to the eradication of half the population of the universe, including many of the MCU's beloved heroes. Since then, however, the events of the Infinity Saga's climactic Avengers films have been all but forgotten. In the wake of Avengers: Endgame and the ending of the MCU's Infinity Saga, several new heroes have been introduced, and less attention has been given to the five-year Blip between Infinity War and Endgame. While this has allowed the MCU to move forward at a rapid pace, the choice to mostly ignore the Blip has led to some confusion, especially when questions have risen about the fates of the MCU's new heroes after Thanos' snap. There are still several characters in the franchise whose snap fates haven't been revealed, but whether they were alive or missing for those five years could be hugely important to several upcoming MCU projects.
10 Marc Spector, A.K.A. Moon Knight Marvel Studios debuted Moon Knight on Disney+ in March 2022 as part of the MCU's Phase 4, but the series came under some scrutiny for its noticeable lack of connections to the wider MCU. The self-contained story instead focused primarily on Oscar Isaac's Marc Spector, a man with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), with both Marc and his alters, Steven Grant and Jake Lockley, operating as the avatar for the Egyptian god Khonshu. While it hasn't been confirmed whether Marc Spector survived Thanos' snap or not, some hints in Moon Knight could point to the idea that he survived and would have been operating as the antihero throughout the five-year Blip.
9 Matt Murdock, A.K.A. Daredevil The fate of Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock after Thanos' snap has been a hot topic of discussion, with many suggesting that Daredevil's disappearance as a result of the snap could have allowed for Kingpin's rise to power. Charlie Cox previously portrayed Murdock on Netflix's Daredevil series but made the move to the MCU proper for appearances in Spider-Man: No Way Home, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and Echo, leading into his first solo series, Daredevil: Born Again.
8 Alexei Shostakov, A.K.A. Red Guardian David Harbour debuted as Alexei Shostakov, a.k.a. the Red Guardian, a Russian super soldier, in Black Widow. While the Phase 4 film released after Infinity War and Endgame, it took place prior, between Captain America: Civil War and Infinity War, and Shostakov's fate after Thanos' snap hasn't yet been revealed in the MCU. Yelena Belova, who also debuted in Black Widow, portrayed by Florence Pugh, was revealed to have been snapped away in Hawkeye, but the fate of her family is unclear. It's likely that Phase 5's Thunderbolts could clear this up, particularly if Red Guardian is revealed to have survived and subsequently lost both of his surrogate daughters.
7 Agatha Harkness WandaVision kicked off the MCU's Phase 4 and Multiverse Saga, exploring the lives of Wanda Maximoff and Vision in the wake of Infinity War and Endgame. The MCU's premiere Disney+ series also introduced Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness, an original Salem witch who wanted to steal the Scarlet Witch's power for herself. It wasn't revealed whether Agatha survived Thanos' snap, but it seems likely that she did, as it would be surprising if her first task after being brought back would be to track down the Scarlet Witch and manipulate her into giving up her power. The upcoming Agatha: Coven of Chaos series could uncover Harkness' actions during the Blip.
6 Baron Helmut Zemo After being introduced back in Captain America: Civil War, Daniel Brühl reprised the role of Baron Helmut Zemo for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The Disney+ series did nothing to reveal whether he had been a victim of Thanos' snap or not, even with the topic being a primary point of discussion in the series. Since Zemo was incarcerated at the end of Civil War and found still in prison in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, it's likely that the Sokovian soldier survived the snap and hence spent the five-year Blip in prison, perhaps agreeing that Thanos' course of action was the right one.
5 Contessa Valentina Allegra De Fontaine Before Thanos' snap, there had been no mention of Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, but after the onset of the MCU's Multiverse Saga, she seems to pop up around every corner. Her debut in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, brief appearance in Black Widow, and further role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever have shown her building the MCU's Thunderbolts team and revealed her position as Director of the CIA, which suggests one key aspect of her backstory. It's very likely that Valentina survived Thanos' snap and used the Blip to move into a position of power, allowing her to be a very prominent figure in Phase 4 and beyond.
4 Wilson Fisk, A.K.A. Kingpin Vincent D'Onofrio also made the move to the MCU after debuting as Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin, in Netflix's Daredevil series. Making his first appearance in Hawkeye, Kingpin showed off some new skills, including an enhanced level of invulnerability, as he was able to take an arrow to the chest and withstand explosions and being hit by a car during the battle against Kate Bishop. Though it hasn't been revealed whether Kingpin survived Thanos' snap, it's very likely that he did, as Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton seems to know Kingpin from his time operating as Ronin, and the Blip would have created the perfect opportunity for Kingpin to rebuild his empire.
3 Jennifer Walters, A.K.A. She-Hulk She-Hulk: Attorney at Law released towards the end of the MCU's Phase 4 and made a very conscious decision to avoid discussing the Blip, with head writer Jessica Gao (via Lifehacker) even suggesting that "people have already moved on." This meant that, although Mark Ruffalo was still portraying the Smart Hulk persona during the series, other characters' fates after Thanos' snap weren't revealed, including Jennifer Walters' herself. It seems possible that Tatiana Maslany's Jen, Bruce Banner's cousin, fell victim to Thanos' snap, perhaps motivating Banner to get closer to his family after Avengers: Endgame, as he had never mentioned them before the MCU's Phase 4.
2 Emil Blonsky, A.K.A. Abomination Another character who appeared in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law also hasn't had their fate after Thanos' snap revealed - Emil Blonsky, a.k.a. Abomination. Tim Roth debuted as Blonsky in 2008's The Incredible Hulk and reappeared briefly during Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings before a longer appearance in She-Hulk. It wasn't confirmed whether Abomination had survived Thanos' snap, but his familiarity with Wong, the MCU's Sorcerer Supreme portrayed by Benedict Wong, in Shang-Chi suggests that the villain did survive, and had been regularly breaking out of prison to spar with Wong as "training" - Wong even calls him Emil, as if they'd known each other for a while.
1 Namor Black Panther: Wakanda Forever introduced Tenoch Huerta's version of Namor. As one of Marvel Comics' original superheroes, Namor's MCU debut had been highly anticipated, but coming so late in Phase 4 meant that Namor's fate and the fate of his underwater city of Talokan after Thanos' snap wasn't revealed. If Namor had been snapped away, Talokan would have been thrust into turmoil, and someone else might have taken the throne, so it's more likely that he survived the events of Avengers: Infinity War and continued to rule his underwater nation.
