Loki Season 2 Trailer Shown By Disney Doesn"t Include Jonathan Majors Or Kang

During Disney"s upfront this week, Marvel Studios screened the Loki season 2 trailer, however neither Jonathan Majors nor Kang appeared in it, despite being a central villain. Majors was teed up to be the main villain of Loki season 2 in the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania post-credits scene, which featured Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Mobius (Owen Wilson) in the crowd of a show featuring Kang variant Victor Timely. After Quantumania"s theatrical release in February, Majors was arrested in New York City in late March on charges of strangulation, assault and harassment.At Disney"s upfront presentation to press and advertisers on May 16, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige previewed a handful of the Marvel Cinemtic Universe"s upcoming shows, including Secret Invasion, Echo and Loki season 2. According to Axios reporter Tim Baysinger, Feige made no mention of Majors being in the show, nor did any of his characters - Kang or Victor Timely - appear in the Loki season 2 trailer.

The Loki season 2 trailer has not been released online, but Feige did confirm the MCU show will return later this year. Loki season 2 is set to premiere on Friday, Oct. 6, shifting from Wednesdays to Fridays.
How Will Marvel Handle Jonathan Majors Being In Loki Season 2?

Neither Marvel nor Feige has commented on Majors" arrest yet. Though fan speculation has run rampant about whether the studio will - or should - recast the role of Kang, Deadline reported in April that Marvel has had zero discussions about recasting Majors. It"s likely that Marvel is waiting to see how Majors" case progresses before having any discussions, let alone making any decisions. After all, it was only after Johnny Depp lost his libel case against The Sun, in which it was ruled the paper was truthful when they called him a "wife beater," that he was asked to resign from the Fantastic Beasts franchise.
Since Loki season 2 has finished filming and has a release date, it doesn"t appear as though Marvel has any intention of altering the show no matter what happens with Majors" case. As a result, it"s possible they"ll go the same route as they did with previewing Loki season 2 at Disney"s upfront and skirt around the issue of the actor being a major villain. When it releases, the Loki season 2 trailer will likely avoid including Majors as Kang/Timely. It"s possible this is meant to avoid spoilers, either for the show or Quantumania"s post-credits scene, but given Majors" arrest, his lack of appearance is notable.
After Loki, the next known appearance of Majors" Kang is in 2025"s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. At the moment, it appears Marvel is staying the course with Majors playing Kang. However, if the actor is found guilty of the charges he"s facing, the studio will have to reevaluate how to proceed. Until then, it remains to be seen exactly how the Loki season 2 trailer will handle Majors" involvement when it releases online.
Loki season 2 premieres Friday, Oct. 6 on Disney+.
