Daredevil: Born Again Set Photos Reveal First Look At Kingpin Return

New Daredevil: Born Again set photos have finally revealed a first look at Vincent D"Onofrio"s return as the villainous Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin. The highly anticipated Disney+ show will act as a soft reboot of the hit Daredevil series this time as a full-fledged part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. D"Onofrio will be joined by his Daredevil costars Charlie Cox, who portrays Matt Murdock, and Jon Bernthal, the Punisher, for an 18-episode season that will act as a part of the MCU"s Phase 5, airing sometime in 2024.Despite recent delays in the MCU"s upcoming shows, Daredevil: Born Again is well into filming its first few episodes. Amidst many other set photos revealing first looks at Cox"s return, a new behind-the-scenes shot from Daredevil: Born Again Behind the Scenes on Twitter reveals an early glimpse of D"Onofrio"s character. Check out the new image below:

The shot shows Fisk standing on the street, sporting much more formal attire than in his most recent appearance in the finale of Hawkeye. The character appears to be staring at something in the distance, though the shot doesn"t reveal exactly what has grasped the Kingpin"s attention.
How Is Kingpin Still Alive In Daredevil: Born Again?

D"Onofrio"s return in Daredevil: Born Again naturally raises questions about how Kingpin survived Hawkeye"s final episode. After Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) learned that Wilson Fisk had orchestrated the death of her father, the vigilante known as Echo took it upon herself to hunt down the crime boss. Upon finding him, Echo appears to shoot Fisk in the head, though the camera pans away without revealing Kingpin"s ultimate fate. While Hawkeye"s coy refusal to show Kingpin"s death onscreen openly telegraphed his return, the first look at his return in Born Again reveals he doesn"t even have so much as a wound from Echo"s shot.
There may be a simple explanation to questions regarding Kingpin"s survival. In fact, it is possible the events of Born Again simply take place before those of Hawkeye. In the wake of news that certain actors won"t be returning for the upcoming series, some theories have suggested that Born Again might justify its missing characters by being set in the Blip, sometime between 2018 and 2023. This would not only explain why characters like Foggy Nelson and Karen Page are absent from the series, but why Wilson Fisk appears to be in perfect health during the events of Born Again.
However, if the upcoming Disney+ series does indeed take place in the present-day timeline of the MCU, the truth behind Wilson Fisk"s survival may prove far more nefarious than originally thought. The character certainly seemed to be far stronger in Hawkeye than in previous appearances, leading to theories the crime boss may have enhanced his strength since the events of Daredevil. If the Kingpin is now an enhanced individual, he may have the strength to survive even a gunshot to the head, making a far more intimidating enemy for Matt Murdock to face during the events of Daredevil: Born Again.
