Marvel Star Wants Chris Evans To Return For Captain America 5

Captain America: Brave New World star Anthony Mackie wants to reunite with the MCU’s original Cap, Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers. Mackie took over the mantle of Captain America in Disney+’s Falcon & The Winter Soldier from John Walker and Brave New World marks his movie debut in the position. By the sound of it, he’s already looking ahead to what his Marvel future might hold.
Ahead of the release of his video game adaptation Twisted Metal, Mackie told Inverse that he wants his next Marvel movie to bring back Evans, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes for a muscle-bound four way:
“I would like for the three of us to get in a situation with [Chris] Hemsworth. I think the four of us would literally cause so much havoc.”

Secret Wars Can Bring Steve Rogers Back To The MCU

The idea of another Avengers-like team-up of such popular characters is an enticing one, even if it might pose some problems. Evans has obviously retired from the MCU and Chris Hemsworth's status as Thor is unknown. The MCU obviously at least has a very easy solution for bringing Chris Evans back into the fore, even if it’s a little overplayed at this point: the Multiverse. But for Anthony Mackie, that’s something of a nebulous concept:
“I’m still trying to figure out the Marvel-verse, or whatever… I don’t know. I don’t even know what the multiverse is. Dude, I have no idea what it is. I’m still trying to figure that sh*t out.”
An alternate universe Steve Rogers wouldn’t quite land as true as the original, even if the fan reaction would likely be huge. The alternative would be to bring Captain America in for Avengers: Secret Wars, using Kang’s time travelling powers to pluck him (and ideally the Howling Commandos) from an earlier point in the Marvel timeline and bringing them into the fight. That would avoid multiverse burnout and allow Cap to come in and then drop back into his own time without compromising Steve Rogers’ perfect Endgame ending.
