Warning: This post contains spoilers for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-VerseReleased on June 2, 2023, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse explored the multiverse of Sony's animated Spider-Man universe, but not without the help of its expansive cast. In the highly-anticipated sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Miles Morales returned alongside Gwen Stacy and Peter B. Parker to try and stop a new, multiversal threat. After an adventure in another reality, Miles made his way to the Spider Society, greeted by their tough leader, Miguel O’Hara, a.k.a. Spider-Man 2099. With the threat of the Spot looming, however, Miles may have caused a greater problem for the multiverse's Spider-People.
From Spider-Man Noir to Spider-Ham, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse gave a preview of just how many Spider-People are out there. Along with returning voices from the first film, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse saw the addition of multiple newcomers to portray a more expansive group of colorful Spider-People. Into the Spider-Verse was praised for its new take on the classic superhero story and how it handled the multiverse, and the film’s success called for sequels, including Across the Spider-Verse and a 2024 sequel, Beyond the Spider-Verse. Here’s a guide to the cast of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, who voices each Spider-Person, and what else they’re known for.
Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, A.K.A. Spider-Man

Shameik Moore returned as Marvel favorite Miles Morales. After taking over the Spider-Man mantle in his universe, Into the Spider-Verse followed Miles as he grew into his new powers and role. Now more confident after a year as Spider-Man, Across the Spider-Verse expanded on Miles’ heroic story, though it revealed that his simple existence as Spider-Man could be the root of many problems. Moore gained recognition with his role in 2015's Dope then went on to star in Baz Luhrmann’s musical drama The Get Down. He also starred as Raekwon on Wu-Tang: An American Saga. Also known as a singer and rapper, Moore has released multiple singles and an album.
Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy, A.K.A. Spider-Woman

As the Spider-Woman of her universe, Gwen Stacy was drawn to Miles’ universe in Into the Spider-Verse, and the two form a close friendship. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse developed Gwen Stacy's backstory further and explored her relationship with her father in her universe. Hailee Steinfeld first gained recognition for her breakthrough role in True Grit and has since starred in Ender’s Game, The Edge of Seventeen, and the Pitch Perfect franchise. Steinfeld lent her voice as Vi in Arcane and also starred in the comedy Dickinson, as well as serving as executive producer. Steinfeld currently portrays Kate Bishop in the MCU after her introduction in Hawkeye.
Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker, A.K.A. Spider-Man

As Miles' bumbling mentor in Into the Spider-Verse, Peter B. Parker returned in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse as a member of the Spider Society. Since reconciling with Mary Jane Watson, Peter is now married and has a daughter named Mayday. Jake Johnson is most well-known for his role as Nick Miller in the comedy New Girl, for which he earned a Critics’ Choice nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy Series. He’s made appearances in comedies like 21 Jump Street, Neighbors, and Tag and had a supporting role in the first Jurassic World movie. Johnson co-starred in the crime series Stumptown and currently stars in the comedy series Minx.
Oscar Isaac as Miguel O'Hara, A.K.A. Spider-Man 2099

First teased at the end of Into the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse introduced Oscar Isaac as Miguel O'Hara, Spider-Man from the year 2099 and the leader of the Spider Society. Across the Spider-Verse touched on his traumatic backstory, in which he caused a multiversal breakdown, and saw him butt heads with Miles Morales. Isaac has been busy with roles in franchises like Star Wars, Dune, and the MCU as Moon Knight. He’s had other leading roles in Ex Machina and X-Men: Apocalypse, and played supporting roles in films like Drive and Annihilation. Isaac has voiced Gomez Addams in 2019’s The Addams Family and its sequel.
Issa Rae as Jessica Drew, A.K.A. Spider-Woman

Jessica Drew is one of the new Spider-Man variants introduced in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, a member of the Spider Society operating as the Spider-Woman of her universe. She is one of Marvel Comics' most notable female heroes, and acts as Gwen Stacy's mentor in Across the Spider-Verse. Rae is an accomplished producer, and starred in the TV series' The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl and Insecure. She’s had roles in films like The Hate U Give and The Photograph and voiced the mother in Academy Award-winning short film Hair Love. Rae will portray President Barbie in the upcoming Barbie film.
Daniel Kaluuya as Hobart "Hobie" Brown, A.K.A. Spider-Punk

A punk rock version of Spider-Man, Spider-Punk comes from an alternate universe ruled by a totalitarian regime. He is shown to have a bond with Gwen Stacy, and becomes quick friends with Miles Morales in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Daniel Kaluuya gained recognition as Posh Kenneth in the British comedy Skins and has gone on to guest star in TV shows like Doctor Who and Black Mirror. A frequent collaborator with director Jordan Peele, Kaluuya has starred in Get Out and Nope. He won a BAFTA and Academy Award for his role as Fred Hampton in Judas and the Black Messiah. Within the MCU, Kaluuya portrayed W’Kabi in Black Panther.
Jason Schwartzman as Jonathan Ohnn, A.K.A. The Spot

The Spot poses a huge threat to the multiverse in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, as a supervillain with a vendetta against Miles Morales - he got hit with that bagel in Into the Spider-Verse and trapped in Kingpin's exploding machine - who can travel across realities using interdimensional portals produced by his body. Jason Schwartzman has appeared in multiple Wes Anderson films, including Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Isle of Dogs, and The French Dispatch. The nephew of filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola, Schwartzman has also appeared in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and Fargo.
Karan Soni as Pavitr Prabhakar, A.K.A. Spider-Man India

Spider-Man India was introduced in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse from an alternate universe where Manhattan is actually the city of Mumbattan. This is the first alternate reality that Miles Morales travels to, but his presence there causes a problem when he saves Captain Singh, breaking a "canon event" in Across the Spider-Verse. Karan Soni made his feature film debut in Safety Not Guaranteed, and has since gone on to have a recurring role as Dopinder in the Deadpool franchise, a role which he'll reprise in Deadpool 3. Soni has also appeared in Pokémon Detective Pikachu and Miracle Workers.
Brian Tyree Henry as Jefferson Davis

Originally disapproving of Spider-Man, Miles’ dad now sees the figure as a hero after the death of his brother in Into the Spider-Verse, though he still doesn't know that Spider-Man is actually his son. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse teases a tragic future for Davis, as he must die to fulfil the canon event. Brian Tyree Henry had his breakout role in Atlanta, and has had great success in his roles in the action comedy film Bullet Train, and the drama Causeway, for which he earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He was introduced as Phastos in Eternals and will likely make another MCU appearance.
Luna Lauren Vélez as Rio Morales

As a nurse, Miles Morales’ mother is his key emotional support both in Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, though the sequel gifts her a larger role as his motivation for traveling the multiverse. Luna Lauren Vélez has had notable television roles in prison drama Oz and crime series Dexter, both of which she was nominated for multiple awards. She has also had recurring roles in comedy-drama Ugly Betty and legal thriller How to Get Away with Murder.
Jorma Taccone as Vulture

The Vulture is a classic Spider-Man villain who appears in the opening moments of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Coming from a universe which appears to be made of paper, the Vulture's appearance marks an anomaly in Gwen Stacy's universe that constitutes Spider-Man 2099 and Jessica Drew's intervention, and leads to Gwen's father finding out about her heroic alter-ego. Taccone found success as one-third of the sketch comedy troupe, The Lonely Island. In Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Taccone voiced both Norman Osborn and Spider-Man from Earth-67.
Shea Whigham as Captain George Stacy

Gwen Stacy's father and a police Captain on Earth-65, Captain George Stacy is a well-known supporting character of Spider-Man in Marvel Comics. In Across the Spider-Verse, his relationship with his Spider-Woman daughter is explored in detail, as well as his retirement from the police force towards the end of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Whigham is best known for his role in period crime series Boardwalk Empire. He made an appearance in 2019’s Joker and has had a recurring role in the Fast & Furious franchise. He will appear in the upcoming Mission: Impossible film.
Andy Samberg as Ben Reilly, A.K.A. Scarlet Spider

Ben Reilly has a short but memorable role in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. A genetic clone of Peter Parker from another reality, Reilly operates as the brooding Scarlet Spider that acts as a parody of dark 90s comics. He's a high-ranking member of the Spider Society who is sent to watch Miles Morales at the end of Across the Spider-Verse. Samberg is best known for his roles in Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Palm Springs, as well as being a member of The Lonely Island alongside Jorma Taccone.
Greta Lee as Lyla

First seen at the end of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Lyla gets a bigger role in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse as the artificial assistant to Miguel O'Hara and the Spider Society. Star of stage and screen, Greta Lee is best known for her roles in Girls, High Maintenance, Sisters, and Russian Doll. Lee has also guest starred on New Girl and Wayward Pines and appeared in The Morning Show as Stella Bak.
Jharrel Jerome as Miles G. Morales, A.K.A. Prowler

Miles Morales found himself on Earth 42 at the end of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and came face-to-face with his alternate self, Miles G. Morales, Earth 42's Prowler. Jharrel Jerome got his first professional acting role opposite Mahershala Ali in Moonlight and has since appeared in Mr. Mercedes, When They See Us, and Concrete Cowboy. He will presumably have a large role in 2024's Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
Amandla Stenberg as Margo Kess, A.K.A. Spider-Byte

Spider-Byte is a Spider-Woman from a virtual reality, much preferring her time in the Spider Society than her real life. She helps Miles Morales escape the Spider Society in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Amandla Stenberg previously starred in The Hate U Give with Issa Rae and has also appeared in The Hunger Games, Dear Evan Hansen, and The Eddy.
Jack Quaid as Earth 65's Peter Parker

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse developed the backstory of Gwen Stacy, revealing that her universe's Peter Parker became the Lizard instead of Spider-Man. Earth 65's Peter Parker was voiced by Jack Quaid, who is perhaps best known for starring as Hughie Campbell in Amazon Prime Video's The Boys. Quaid has also appeared in The Hunger Games, Logan Lucky, and 2022's Scream.
Rachel Dratch as Ms. Weber

Ms. Weber was Miles Morales' guidance counselor, who sat down with his parents to discuss his future options, though she seemed to be aware that Miles was lying to his family. Rachel Dratch's breakthrough role came as a regular cast member on Saturday Night Live, leading to roles in 30 Rock, The King of Queens, and Wine Country, regularly alongside Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. Dratch also made her Broadway debut in 2022's POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great Dumbass Are Seven Women Trying To Keep Him Alive.
Mahershala Ali as Aaron Davis

After appearing as Miles Morales' uncle in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse - where he was revealed to be the Prowler - Mahershala Ali returned to voice Earth 42's Aaron Davis in Across the Spider-Verse. Ali is a highly-acclaimed actor, appearing in the likes of Moonlight, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Hunger Games franchise, and Green Book. Ali is set to play Eric Brooks, a.k.a. Blade, in the MCU's Blade reboot. He'll likely return for the sequel to Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, as the story isn't finished on Earth 42.
