Former Gwen Stacy Actor Gives Big Endorsement For Across The Spider-Verse

Sony"s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has been released to commercial and critical acclaim, and Spider-Man 3"s Gwen Stacy actor Bryce Dallas Howard has high praise for the animated superhero sequel. Across the Spider-Verse follows Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld), and several other famous and deep-cut Spider-Man variants as they contend with an impending multiversal disaster. Both Spider-Verse movies feature Gwen Stacy more prominently than any other Spider-Man movie to date, and the first live-action Gwen actor couldn"t be more excited.
On Twitter, actor, director, and writer Bryce Dallas Howard shared a photo of her and her father (acclaimed filmmaker Ron Howard) posing by a theatrical poster for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, with her caption exclaiming, "RUN DON’T WALK" to see "An astonishing film on every level."
Howard famously portrayed Gwen Stacy in Sam Raimi"s Spider-Man 3. Given the general response to Across the Spider-Verse from critics and general audiences, it seems that Howard isn"t alone in her assessment of the film. Across the Spider-Verse enjoyed massive opening weekend box-office earnings and has maintained strong legs several weeks later.
Is Bryce Dallas Howard"s Gwen Stacy In Across The Spider-Verse? Though there is a staggering number of Spider-Man cameos and references in Across the Spider-Verse, the movie does not feature any multiversal versions of Gwen Stacy. Despite the Spider Society being packed to the brim with versions of Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, and other Spider-related people, there"s only one Gwen in Sony"s animated franchise so far. However, Sony"s third Spider-Verse movie, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, presents the best chance yet for Bryce Dallas Howard (and Amazing Spider-Man"s Emma Stone) to return as Gwen on the big screen.
Speaking on the Crew Call with Anthony D"Alessandro podcast, Spider-Verse franchise writers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller confirmed that the movie will feature multiple versions of Gwen Stacy. This is, of course, no guarantee that Howard will be part of the project, but with other live-action cameos already part of the franchise, it"s certainly possible. Gwen"s ominous warning in Across the Spider-Verse that things always go poorly when a Gwen is involved with a Spider-Man may hint at tragedy, but time will tell if Beyond the Spider-Verse can bring closure to the Gwen Stacys of the multiverse.
