The Flash 2 Would Have Answered 1 Big Villain Mystery, But Don"t Hold Your Breath

WARNING: This article includes SPOILERS from The Flash movie. If The Flash 2 ever ends up happening, the murderer who killed Barry Allen's mother is set to stay true to the comics. Barry Allen has officially returned to the big screens as Ezra Miller reprises the role of the Scarlet Speedster in The Flash movie, focusing on the DC hero's journey through the multiverse. One of the central plots of the DCEU adventure was trying to undo Nora Allen's tragic death, as she was mysteriously murdered during Barry's childhood. But at the end of the film, it is never actually revealed who took Nora's life.
However, if The Flash 2 was to get greenlit, the mystery would have been properly answered, according to director Andy Muschietti. In an interview with The Playlist, The Flash director confirmed that Eobard Thawne, a.k.a. the Reverse-Flash, would have been revealed to be Nora's murderer, which is how it plays out in Barry's comic mythology. While he didn't reveal any casting he had in mind, Muschietti felt Reverse-Flash being the central antagonist for Ezra Miller's The Flash 2 would have been the right thing, sharing the following:
Well, Reverse Flash is the elephant in the room, right? It feels like you can’t make another movie without addressing the one that, in all accounts, is the murderer of Barry’s mom. So, it feels like the big villain.
