Marvel Has Spent 10 Years Fixing Thor: The Dark World - But There"s Still 1 Thing Left

Summary
  • Over the years, Marvel Studios has fixed many issues with "Thor: The Dark World," improving elements like Thor's relationship with Jane Foster and the characters of Frigga and Loki.
  • However, one glaring flaw that still needs correction is the film's villains, Malekith and the Dark Elves, who remain underdeveloped and poorly written.
  • Unfortunately, it seems unlikely that the MCU can fix Malekith's issues, as the character was killed after being sent back to his home realm and the Dark Elves are now extinct, leaving minimal possibilities for a redemptive story for them outside of a potential prequel.
Marvel Studios has spent the better part of 10 years fixing the less-than-satisfying elements of Thor: The Dark World, though there is one glaring part of the film that still needs correction. Since its release in 2013, Thor: The Dark World held the undesirable title of being ranked among the worst MCU films. While the divisiveness of many Phase 4 and 5 projects has potentially led to Thor: The Dark World being looked upon somewhat more fondly, there are still several aspects of the film that simply do not work.
That said, for every element of Thor 2 that does not hold up, there are an equal number of details that have been rectified by Marvel Studios over the years. This has somehow led to Thor: The Dark World's underrated MCU movie status being raised in recent years due to the elements of the film that have been improved upon by later Marvel projects. Despite a decade of fixes, retcons, and changes being made to Thor: The Dark World that has led to it being received in a more positive light, one aspect of the film is still a glaring flaw that requires correction one way or another.
