Kraven"s Official Synopsis Makes Spider-Man Crossover Plans Even More Likely

For people who have been waiting to see a Spider-Man crossover within Sony's Spider-Man Universe, the official synopsis for Kraven the Hunter hints at making that a reality. Sony's Spider-Man Universe may have taken a fall with Morbius, but the franchise is still going forward with more characters from the web-crawler's iconic mythology. For 2023, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is joining the Spider-Man-inspired universe as Sergei Kravinoff in his own solo movie, Kraven the Hunter, making this the actor's second major Marvel gig after playing Quicksilver in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
With the film coming to theaters in October, Sony Pictures have officially released its first Kraven the Hunter trailer, showcasing Sergei and his complex family background. Directed by J. C. Chandor, the footage for Kraven the Hunter also teases the leading character's origin story, as he almost died at a young age, teasing that villains aren't born, "they are made." However, similar to other films in Sony's Spider-Man Universe, many are questioning the lack of the web-slinger, whose only "presence" is hinted at through Kraven getting surrounded by a swarm of spiders.
