Marvel's M.O.D.O.K. is one of the more unique shows that Marvel has made, so one of its stars was rightfully disappointed when it was not picked up for a second season. M.O.D.O.K. was well-received and praised by critics for, among other things, its strong voice cast. Now, one member of that cast, Wendi McLendon-Covey, has expressed her frustration with the show's cancellation.
Speaking with Screen Rant in an exclusive interview, Mclendon-Covey expressed her displeasure with M.O.D.O.K.'s cancellation but also made it clear she understood why the people in charge made the decision. She also made it clear that she enjoyed working on M.O.D.O.K., which made it that much harder that the show didn't continue. Wendi McLendon-Covey's comments can be read below:
Exclusive: Oh, I was so irritated, but also I thought, "I'm sure this is really expensive," because stop-motion animation takes forever. And I just remember being there and being shown the characters and stuff and thinking, "Oh, this is so cool, but wow, this is going to take a long time to get it launched," which it did. I was so mad, I was so disappointed. I loved playing on that show, it's such a strange world, and yet I loved M.O.D.O.K., he was such a big-faced, crazy-looking little dude. [Chuckles] But yeah, I was bummed that that didn't go further.
It is clear that, while Mclendon-Covey would have liked to continue working on M.O.D.O.K., she doesn't hold any grudges over the show's cancellation.
When discussing talks of a second season of M.O.D.O.K., Mclendon-Covey went on to say that she hadn't been part of the discussion.
Exclusive: No, I never heard anything [about season 2 plans], I was not involved with that. I was just like a hired gun, "Show up at this point at this time and do your thing and then leave." But I was not involved in any of that. Yeah.
Unlike M.O.D.O.K. star Patton Oswalt, Mclendon-Covey makes it clear she did not have much to do with the show's production. This is likely why she wasn't brought in for talks of a potential season 2. The character of M.O.D.O.K. later appeared in the MCU movie Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania but was not connected to the animated show.
