Cable actor Josh Brolin shares his thoughts on not getting asked to reprise the role in the MCU's Deadpool & Wolverine. With very few Marvel movies releasing in 2024, it is becoming clearer that Deadpool & Wolverine will be the one to standout the most by a seemingly considerable margin, as Ryan Reynolds' Wade Wilson finally enters the MCU timeline. As the only outing for The Multiverse Saga on the big-screen this year, Deadpool & Wolverine will serve as a crucial installment for Marvel Studios as they continue to explore alternative realities.
In a new interview with The Playlist, Brolin was asked about his lack of presence in Deadpool & Wolverine, after having initially been listed on the film's IMDb listing. While the actor joked about the seemingly false listing, Brolin also opened up on not being tapped to be part of the Deadpool & Wolverine cast, sharing the following:
Am I? Yeeeesssss! I so wanted to be in that movie. [Marvel] is a more complex labyrinth than ‘Outer Range’ will ever be, my friend. And I will never know where that went or what that is or what I’m involved with or what I’m not involved with —the MCU being involved now. Cable was a lot of fun. I really liked doing that role. That was a lot of fun. Hugh [Jackman], I’m absolutely in love with. I know Ryan [Reynolds] now, and I’ve met Hugh a couple of times, and I think when he did ‘Logan’—forget it! I mean, Scott Frank, who wrote it, is a good friend of mine and I just think the coming together of [these characters] is just fantastic. And Hugh, I don’t know how old Hugh is now—is he 56, 57? I mean, seriously, the dude doesn’t age. So, yeah. I’m a big fan of his.

One of the biggest returns is Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, who will be playing a new variant of Logan, exploring a different take on the iconic X-Men hero. Even though she has yet to appear in any of the Deadpool & Wolverine trailers, Jennifer Garner is also reportedly reprising the role of Elektra from Ben Affleck's Daredevil universe.
Several Marvel characters from the previous Deadpool movies are also set to return, including Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), Blind Al (Leslie Uggams), Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), and Yukio (Shioli Kutsuna). A handful of X-Men actors are also reprising their roles from the original films, with Aaron Stanford showing up as an older John Allerdyce, a.k.a. Pyro. The Deadpool & Wolverine story will also feature the likes of Sabretooth, Azazel, Toad, and Lady Deathstrike.
