Bruce Campbell has surprisingly revealed that his Marvel Cinematic Universe character in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and his characters in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy are the same person. Campbell played Pizza Poppa in the MCU movie, while the actor appeared as a wrestling ring announcer in Spider-Man, an usher in Spider-Man 2, and a Maître d' in Spider-Man 3.
Speaking with Comicbook.com, Campbell made the shocking reveal that the Raimi Spider-Man and Doctor Strange movies are connected through him. According to the actor, all the characters he played in both the Raimi Spider-Man trilogy and the Doctor Strange sequel are the same person. Campbell explains, saying, "So, yes, he is the same character, but we don't know who he really is." He then teased talks with Marvel about it, saying, "We're getting close to finding out." When asked if his character was actually Mysterio, who Campbell would have played in Raimi's canceled Spider-Man 4, the actor said, "I can't confirm or deny." Check out the full quote below:

"The cameos are like, in the Spider-Man movies -- if you know anything about the multiverse, you know now, retroactively, I'm in the multiverse now because of Doctor Strange. I'm not a pizza vendor, OK? That would be a massive mistake to think I'm just a pizza vendor, or an usher, or a ring announcer, or a maître d'. It's called the multiverse, my friend. So, yes, he is the same character, but we don't know who he really is. It has not been revealed yet. I just got off the phone with the guys at Marvel, and we're getting close to finding out."

Could Bruce Campbell Ever Play Mysterio?

Rami's Spider-Man 4 would have featured multiple classic Marvel Comics villains for an opening montage. One of the foes that would have gone up against Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man early on in the film would have been Mysterio, with Campbell as Quentin Beck. Raimi revealed that he considered a few different roles for Campbell's traditional cameo in the film, and Mysterio was the biggest one of them.
While Spider-Man 4 never ended up happening, there is still a chance for Campbell to play Mysterio. Raimi has already introduced Campbell to the MCU as Pizza Poppa in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and with the director rumored to be on Marvel's shortlist to helm Avengers: Secret Wars, another Campbell MCU role might be on the way. The actor and director have collaborated on several movies over the years, and if Raimi were to return to the MCU, Campbell would more than likely also come back.
Avengers: Secret Wars will serve as the Multiverse Saga's finale, making it the perfect place for Campbell to finally play Mysterio. The MCU already has its own version of the villain, with Jake Gyllenhaal having played Mysterio opposite Tom Holland's Spider-Man. However, with Avengers: Secret Wars' multiverse plot, Campbell could appear as the Mysterio from the world of Raimi's Spider-Man movies, perhaps with Maguire's Spider-Man fighting him before being called to aid the MCU heroes to save the multiverse. That could allow the MCU to reveal that Bruce Campbell's Spider-Man and Doctor Strange characters were all one and the same — the true multiversal Mysterio that Gyllenhaal's pretended to be.
