Marvel Meme Perfectly Nails A Dark Trend That Targeted 3 MCU Characters

A darkly hilarious MCU meme uncovers an odd trend that started with Avengers: Endgame and continues with Agatha All Along. Many Marvel characters have died throughout the MCU"s five phases. Some of them have come back to life; others have returned through the multiverse; a few others have stayed dead, and some actually faked their death in the first place. Some characters died before they got a chance to showcase their full potential, like Aaron Taylor Johnson"s Quicksilver; while others died after completing their full character arc, like Robert Downey Jr."s Iron Man.
On X, user @FatherLessSnrlx posted an image depicting Natasha Romanoff and the original Gamora lying dead on Vormir, both now accompanied by Agatha All Along"s first casualty, Sharon Davis a.k.a. Mrs. Hart. Gamora, Natasha, and Sharon all sacrificed their lives to a higher magical power: Thanos threw Gamora off the Vomir monument in order to acquire the Soul Stone, Natasha Romanoff gave her life to acquire the same stone shortly after, and the Witches" Road claimed Sharon as the first trial"s mortal victim. User @ksandraxox adds two other victims to the same image. Apart from Natasha, Gamora, and Sharon, they also add Maria Hill and Wanda Maximoff. Maria Hill died unexpectedly in Secret Invasion episode 1, while Agatha All Along confirmed Wanda Maximoff"s death after her sacrifice to destroy the Darkhold in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. What The Marvel Meme Really Means Female MCU Characters Are Dying Sooner Than Expected Close Natasha Romanoff, Gamora, Sharon Davis, Maria Hill, and Wanda Maximoff all died sooner than what their character arcs were leading to. Natasha"s MCU journey led her down a path of self-redemption, but she wasn"t able to enjoy one last battle alongside her new "family" in Avengers: Endgame"s final battle, as she died on Vormir soon before the Avengers assembled to fight Thanos. Likewise, Gamora didn"t get to participate in the final battle against her abusive father nor fight side to side with Nebula and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy to defend Earth.

Similarly, Maria Hill finally had the potential to be a co-protagonist in Secret Invasion, but she was killed off almost as soon as she returned. Last, Wanda Maximoff was on a path to redemption after WandaVision, but she quickly became a full-fledged villain and made the ultimate sacrifice in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Our Take On The Marvel Meme There Are More Ways To Shock The Audience Than Killing Off Characters With Great Potential

All the female characters who have died before their time in the MCU left an impact on the audience during their respective final appearances. However, their potential for future MCU titles may have held bigger moments than their untimely deaths. Even if their deaths were imminent, a little more screentime and a little deeper character exploration would have been welcome. While death is rather easy to undo in the MCU — even more so in magic-themed titles like Agatha All Along — early deaths might feel more significant when they are used sparingly.
