Why Starfleet Academy Isn"t Set In Star Trek Picard"s 25th Century

There are several reasons why Paramount+'s upcoming Star Trek: Starfleet Academy isn't set during Star Trek: Picard's 25th-century timeline. The latest addition to the Star Trek stable will center on the prominent Federation educational institution as the first batch of Starfleet Cadets for over a century enroll at the Academy. Starfleet Academy will be set in the 32nd century of Star Trek: Discovery, and will possibly continue the story of Lieutenant Sylvia Tilly (Mary Wiseman) who left to teach at the new Starfleet Academy in Discovery season 4.
As fans clamor for more from Star Trek's 25th century in response to Star Trek: Picard's acclaimed third season, the new show's far-future setting could be seen as a major disappointment. However, Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau's new Star Trek: Starfleet Academy TV show hasn't just appeared overnight, it's been in development for some time.
