Mark Ruffalo Says Marvel Should Worry About James Gunn"s DC Universe

James Gunn's new DC Universe should be a cause for concern for Marvel Studios, according to Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo. Gunn directed the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which will conclude with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 this May. However, at one moment it appeared the director would not be back for the final movie, as he was fired by Marvel parent company Disney over past controversial tweets. Gunn would eventually be rehired, but not before he signed on to direct The Suicide Squad for DC. That ultimately turned into the director becoming one of DC Studios new co-CEOs.
Ruffalo spoke at Emerald City Comic-Con (via The Direct) about what Gunn's DC Universe reboot means to Marvel's MCU going forward. The actor was asked about what advice he had for DC — as the studio currently reboots the old DCEU into the new DC Universe — to which Ruffalo said "Marvel should be sweating" about Gunn's plans for DC's future. That level of confidence from Ruffalo is a testament to the body of work Gunn has amassed, and that might help the new DC Universe rival the MCU soon. Check out the full quote below:
I would say, hire James Gunn, cause nobody does it better. And Marvel should be sweating because James Gunn is a really gifted filmmaker and I think he's going to be amazing for that franchise.
