All 8 Times Iron Man Was Saved By Another MCU Hero

Iron Man will always be one of the biggest and most important superheroes the Marvel Cinematic Universe had, but even Iron Man had to be saved by other superheroes sometimes. The MCU is now the biggest connected superhero universe in film and TV, and it’s all thanks to Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), the hero that started it all in 2008 with his first solo movie. Iron Man established the formula for subsequent movies in the MCU, and along with Captain America, Tony Stark led the original Avengers team. Iron Man was also responsible for the creation and guidance of other superheroes, but he also unintentionally created various villains.
Iron Man was present in most of the biggest battles the MCU has seen so far, such as the Battle of New York in The Avengers, the Civil War conflict in Captain America: Civil War, the Battle of Titan in Avengers: Infinity War, and the Time Heist and Battle of Earth in Avengers: Endgame. Iron Man sacrificed himself in Avengers: Endgame in order to save the universe, and his presence continued to be felt throughout most of Phase 4, and while he’s remembered as one of the bravest heroes in the MCU, he had to be saved by other heroes a couple of times throughout his MCU history – and here’s every time Iron Man survived thanks to a fellow superhero.
1 Rhodey In Iron Man Iron Man explored the origin story of the title hero, following Tony Stark from being a reckless and egotistical billionaire to a superhero wearing a unique suit of armor – but in order to get to that, he went through a life-threatening experience. Tony was kidnapped by the Ten Rings, but he was severely injured as pieces of shrapnel were very close to his heart, and fellow prisoner Ho Yinsen saved his life. Together, they built the first Iron Man armor, which allowed Tony to escape, while Yinsen sacrificed himself so Tony could leave. Tony then made his way through the desert until he was rescued by his best friend James Rhodes (then played by Terrence Howard), who would go on to become the hero known as War Machine.
2 Hulk In The Avengers After sharing his plans for the Avengers Initiative with Tony in Iron Man and Iron Man 2, Nick Fury finally formed the Avengers team in The Avengers, with Tony and Steve taking the lead. The Avengers' first mission was the Battle of New York, as Loki and the Chitauri army started invading Earth. As the Avengers did their best to stop the Chitauri, the World Security Council decided to launch a nuclear missile to end the attack, so Iron Man intercepted it and took it through the wormhole and toward the Chitauri fleet, successfully destroying their mothership. However, Iron Man’s suit was not made to fly so high and out of Earth, losing power and sending Iron Man into freefall, but luckily, the Hulk caught him before he crashed.
3 Pepper Potts In Iron Man 3 Iron Man 3 saw Tony Stark dealing with the trauma left by the Battle of New York and his near-death experience after taking the missile through the wormhole. Tony was struggling with anxiety and PTSD, creating a bunch of new Iron Man suits to cope, and because that wasn’t enough, he also had to face Aldrich Killian, a scientist and creator of the Extremis virus, a regenerative treatment with shocking side effects. Pepper Potts was subjected to Extremis by Killian in hopes that Tony would help fix the virus’ flaws while trying to save her, and it was thanks to this that Pepper was able to save Tony shortly after. During his final confrontation with Killian, Pepper seemed to have fallen to her death, but as Tony was about to be killed by Killian, Pepper jumped back and saved Tony thanks to her Extremis powers – luckily, her Extremis effects were stabilized some time later, saving her life.
