The Batman's The Penguin spinoff show with Colin Farrell has officially begun filming. Matt Reeves is building out The Batman universe following the 2022 movie's box office and critical success. As Reeves signed an overall deal with Warner Bros. Discovery, he is just getting started with his franchise. Not only is The Batman - Part II in the works, but the filmmaker is executive producing several spinoff shows that will connect to his universe. One of them is The Penguin, with Farrell reprising the role of Oswald Cobblepot, which will be premiering on HBO Max. Lauren LeFranc is working on the show as a writer and showrunner.
While a premiere date for The Penguin show has yet to be revealed, season 1 will have eight episodes. Even though it's being described as a limited series, time will tell if The Penguin season 2 will happen.
After several months of talking about the series, The Penguin has officially headed into filming. Kalina Ivanov, who works as a production designer on the HBO Max drama, revealed on Instagram that The Penguin had officially finished its first day of filming. Ivanov shared a cryptic image of a mysterious logo while stating that her lips are sealed.
