James Gunn"s Superman: Legacy Is Fixing 7 Henry Cavill Movie Mistakes

The confirmation of James Gunn's DC Universe duties as Superman: Legacy's writer and director supports the idea that the upcoming reboot will fix the DCEU's mistakes regarding Henry Cavill's Man of Steel. Despite Cavill's passion for the role, the actor's Superman journey came to an end after only three full-length appearances across Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League, two obscured cameos not featuring Cavill in Shazam! and Peacemaker, and an inconclusive return in Black Adam's post-credits scene. With the original franchise wrapping up in 2023, another actor will take over the role in the new DC Universe.
Before Henry Cavill's Superman exit, the DCEU's Man of Steel received criticism due to various controversial creative decisions. From Superman's apparent disregard for collateral damage in Man of Steel to his early death in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and his badly-retouched lower face in the theatrical cut of Justice League, Cavill's Superman met several obstacles that didn't allow his performance to shine. While he won't return to the role to make adjustments in the future, another version of Superman can improve on these and other areas when written and directed by DC Universe chief James Gunn in Superman: Legacy.
