The Loki season 2 finale makes the God of Mischief's 12-year-old line so much deeper. Tom Hiddleston wraps up the sophomore year of his acclaimed Marvel Studios Disney+ series with a game-changing new role of the Asgardian Prince. While the ending of Loki season 2 is expected to play a big role in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and its Multiverse Saga, it still features incredibly grounded moments that focus on its titular character's arc thus far. This is arguably what makes the show so beloved amid the MCU's recent lackluster endeavors.
Staging a jampacked send-off for the most popular MCU Disney+ show, the Loki season 2 finale, "Glorious Purpose" primarily focuses on Loki's efforts to undo the destruction of the multiverse. It fully executes the transition of the character from being the God of Mischief to the God of Stories. Sacrificing himself, he gathers the multiversal branches and holds them together to keep them all in check, giving all of his friends the chance to live their lives. Before his heartbreaking decision to give up his life for the greater good, however, he harkens back to one of the character's most emotional lines in the first Thor film.
Loki's "For All Of Us!" Line Copies A Scene From Thor (2011) After spending centuries trying to fix the Temporal Loom, Loki finally realizes what needs to be done in order to save his friends. He's unwilling to kill Sylvie and there's no way to save the multiverse once He Who Remains is gone. So in an unbelievable heroic act, he gives up his own future to ensure that his friends are able to live theirs. Before this, however, he repeats a line from 2011's Thor as one of the Easter eggs in the Loki season 2 finale, albeit in a quieter and calmer way. "I know what kind of God I need to be. For you. For all of us," he says as his parting words to Mobius and Sylvie.
In Kenneth Branagh's movie, however, Loki was in the process of destroying Jotunheim but was hindered when Thor broke the Bifrost Bridge. Enraged by his inability to finish his plan, Odin's adopted son screamed: "I could have done it, father! For you! For all of us!" The surrounding contexts between the scenes are different, but it's interesting that Loki chose the same words as he makes arguably the most difficult decision in his life.
