Star Wars continues to explore the mysterious origin of the Jedi Order. Since the beginning of the franchise, the Jedi have been the focal point through which the audience sees the galaxy. From Luke Skywalker bravely taking on the Empire, to Obi-Wan Kenobi standing up for the Republic, to Rey embracing her destined battle against the Sith; Jedi have always been some of the galaxy’s most important heroes. Nevertheless, why they fight for peace has merely been taken for granted. Up till now, the franchise has shied away from exploring who and what led to the beginning of the Jedi.
With the announcement of James Mangold’s upcoming Dawn of the Jedi film, Star Wars will finally explain how the Jedi came to be. Set 25,000 years before the Skywalker Saga, Mangold’s film is described as the biblical epic of Star Wars. But in the meantime, while audiences wait for answers from his film, Disney seems to have sprinkled hints throughout various Star Wars media as to the origin of the Jedi. Most recently, Dave Filoni’s Ahsoka began to hint about a potential origin for the Jedi Order.

Evidence Is Building That The Jedi Originated From Another Galaxy Close With the introduction of the Pathway to Peridea in Ahsoka and the existence of a new galaxy, the series may have finally given away where the Jedi Order began. Ahsoka already rewrote the origin of the Nightsisters by revealing that they came from Peridea, so it's not out of the question to assume the Jedi and other groups may have come from different galaxies as well. At the very least, Ahsoka has opened the door to more than just the original Star Wars galaxy.
The possibility of the Jedi belonging to a different galaxy is reinforced by the fairy tales Baylan Skoll is obsessed with. Clearly, the Jedi had stories about Peridea for thousands of years. They knew about Peridea, the purrgil, and the Mortis gods, and they came up with children’s stories to explain how all these elements related to one another. Like the Nightsisters, it's possible that the Jedi—or their precursors, the Dei Bendu—originally came from Peridea, but eventually settled on Coruscant and other planets in the Star Wars galaxy.
Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker's Junior Novelization Set This Potential Jedi Origin Up Almost 4 years before Ahsoka released Disney gave another hint as to where the Jedi came from. The Rise of Skywalker Junior Novel makes an intriguing reference to the Jedi, saying, “The Seeds of the Jedi have been sown throughout the galaxy, on Ossus, Jedha, Xenxiar, and others.” Luke Skywalker established his New Jedi Temple on Ossus due to its ancient connection to the Jedi, and Jedha was featured in Rogue One as a site of reverence to those who believe in the Force. But the implication of the novel is not where the Seeds of the Jedi settled, but where the Seeds came from in the first place.
If anything, The Rise of Skywalker Junior Novel implies the Jedi came from somewhere else. Ossus, Jedha, and Xenxiar were not where the Jedi originated, but merely planets they spread their religion to. Similarly, its possible Ahch-To from The Last Jedi was yet another planet the Jedi inhabited early on. And while the first Jedi Temple is confirmed to be on Ahch-To, it seems like Disney is planning on bending this definition. Ahch-To’s Temple may have been the first place the Jedi settled in this galaxy, but it may not have been the founding site of the Jedi Order itself.
