Falcone"s Death In The Batman Might Have Set Up The Sequel’s Villains

Matt Reeves’ The Batman saw the title character facing three villains, one of them Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), who was killed by The Riddler (Paul Dano), but his death might have set up the villains for The Batman – Part II. After following a mature Batman in the DCEU’s Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice and Justice League, Warner Bros. focused on a new and younger version of Batman in DC Universe’s The Batman, now with Robert Pattinson playing the Caped Crusader.
The Batman follows Bruce Wayne in his second year of crime-fighting in Gotham City, so he still has a lot to learn but does his best to keep Gotham’s citizens safe. The Batman saw him teaming up with James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) to catch a serial killer known as The Riddler, but this took Batman into Gotham’s criminal underworld, where he met Carmine Falcone, his chief lieutenant Oswald Cobblepot a.k.a. Penguin (Colin Farrell), and Selina Kyle (Zoë Kravitz), a burglar and drug dealer who ended up becoming Batman’s ally. The Batman had a plot twist regarding Falcone and his link to the Wayne family, and the audience was taken by surprise one more time when the Riddler killed Falcone, but that doesn’t mean that his presence in this universe is over, as his death might have set up the villains for The Batman 2.
