A popular fan-cast for the DCU's new Batman becomes a powerful MCU hero in stunning fan art ahead of Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts. Releasing as part of the MCU's Phase 6 on July 25, 2025, Thunderbolts is set to bring together a group of antiheroes and reformed villains, including the likes of Bucky Barnes' Winter Soldier, Yelena Belova and John Walker's US Agent. However, Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts is also expected to debut a formidable new superhero in the MCU, one who was originally thought to be played by The Walking Dead star Steven Yeun prior to his departure from the project.
Since Steven Yeun will no longer be playing Thunderbolts' highly-anticipated new hero, different actors have been imagined as the MCU's answer to Superman: Robert Reynolds' Sentry. In new fan art shared by Samuel Cheve, Alan Ritchson is depicted as the Sentry in his comic-accurate gold-and-blue costume.
Ritchson has recently been a popular fan-cast for the role of Bruce Wayne's Batman in the rebooted DC Universe, following acclaim for his performance in Amazon Prime Video series Reacher. While Ritchson would certainly be able to deliver the power and strength of the Sentry, Marvel Studios seems to have already recast the role.

Who Is Playing Sentry In The MCU After Steven Yeun’s Exit? Close After Steven Yeun joined the cast of Thunderbolts in February 2023, rumors began to circulate that he would be portraying the Sentry in the MCU. This was seemingly confirmed accidentally by Robert Kirkman, who worked with Yeun on The Walking Dead and Invincible. However, Yeun reportedly departed Thunderbolts' production in January 2024 due to scheduling conflicts, leaving the Sentry's casting in the MCU unclear. Shortly after, Deadline reported that Lewis Pullman, son of acclaimed actor Bill Pullman and star of Top Gun: Maverick, Catch-22, Outer Range and Lessons in Chemistry, would be replacing Yeun as Robert Reynolds' Sentry in Thunderbolts.
Despite the role of Sentry being all but confirmed, Marvel Studios still hasn't provided an official comment on the prospect of Sentry's debut in Thunderbolts, meaning it's possible Pullman could be portraying someone else entirely. However, the fact that Yeun's casting as Sentry was accidentally revealed by Kirkman means that it's very likely Pullman will be assuming the role. Even so, it's unclear exactly what role the Sentry will have in Thunderbolts, as the highly-anticipated upcoming project is already jam-packed with superpowered individuals, but with Thunderbolts set to release in 2025, more news and updates should be on the way.
