James Gunn Responded To Victoria Pedretti Being Cast As The Batman Universe"s Harley Quinn And I"m Actually Bummed This Rumor Was Debunked
James Gunn recently addressed a Harley Quinn casting rumor for Matt Reeves" The Batman universe, and I"m sad that Victoria Pedretti is not actually playing the DC character. Ever since debuting in Batman: The Animated Series, Harley Quinn has seen her popularity skyrocket over the years. She has appeared in several major comic book stories and events, video games, animation, live-action, and more. It was with Margot Robbie"s Harley Quinn in 2016"s Suicide Squad that the character really became a worldwide sensation, with many asking for that version to be a DCU canon character.
So far, James Gunn"s new DC Universe has yet to reveal its plans for Harley. The franchise"s creative chief has said in the past that he wants to work with Robbie again, but, at that time, there were no plans for her to play Harley Quinn in a future project, nor for another actress to take over the role in the DCU. That said, there is another live-action franchise that could need a new Harley. Robert Pattinson"s Bruce Wayne and The Batman trilogy will remain part of DC"s Elseworlds movies, and a major Harley Quinn rumor for the franchise emerged.

However, the movie was pushed back by a year due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes. With the delay and the expansion of the franchise through more possible TV spinoffs like HBO"s The Penguin, rumors have started to come out about which characters could be coming to the franchise. The most recent of them suggested that You star Victoria Pedretti was in talks to play Harley Quinn in The Batman universe, not directly naming which project the actress would appear in.
