Like Carol Danvers, Noh-Varr was a soldier of the Kree Empire, but his life was changed when a villain called Dr. Midas attacked his ship, crashing it in New Jersey, the home of Ms. Marvel's Kamala Khan, who will also have a starring role in The Marvels. The synopsis for The Marvels reveals that Captain Marvel is brought face-to-face with a Kree revolutionary, which could easily be the role assigned to Park Seo-joon, who had the typical Kree powers in Marvel Comics, as well as being enhanced with insect DNA.
Another factor making Noh-Varr's debut in The Marvels likely is the imminent arrival of the Disney+ series Secret Invasion. Set to premiere in June 2023 ahead of The Marvels, Secret Invasion will provide further context about the Skrulls, an alien race that are enemies of the Kree Empire, and the comic storyline of the same name also featured Noh-Varr.
