Loki Season 2"s Most Horrifying Scene Explained By Sinister MCU Theory

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Loki season 2, episode 4, "Heart of the TVA."
Summary
  • Miss Minutes' backstory and connection to He Who Remains has been explored in Loki season 2, revealing her as a terrifying presence in Phase 5 of the MCU.
  • Miss Minutes displayed sheer joy during a horrifying scene of violence in episode 4, indicating her extreme villainous turn.
  • Miss Minutes' manipulation of others, particularly Ravonna Renslayer, showcases her power and sinister nature, making her one of the most surprising new villains in the MCU.
One of the most horrifying scenes in the MCU took place during Loki season 2, which proved that an unexpected character has well-and-truly become a villain during Phase 5. Premiering on October 5, 2023, Loki season 2 picked up immediately after season 1's finale and has since continued to expand on the mythos of the Time Variance Authority (TVA), investigate the variants who inhabit the cosmic organization, and build upon the threat of Kang the Conqueror, the Multiverse Saga's primary villain. Aside from Kang the Conqueror, Loki season 2 has introduced several other villains to the MCU, including Kate Dickie's General Dox, Gugu Mbatha-Raw's Ravonna Renslayer, and an unexpected ally-turned-foe.
Tara Strong first voiced Miss Minutes, the TVA's anthropomorphic clock mascot, in Loki season 1. While she debuted as the helpful artificial assistant to anyone inside the TVA, Loki season 2 has explored more of her backstory and personality, which has seen her become a terrifying presence in the MCU's Phase 5. Miss Minutes' connection to Jonathan Majors' He Who Remains has been explored, especially with the introduction of Kang variant Victor Timely, yet she showed her true colors in Loki season 2, episode 4, "Heart of the TVA," after she manipulated rogue TVA Judge Ravonna Renslayer into instigating one of the MCU's most brutal and visceral scenes of violence.
Miss Minutes Envies Characters With Physical Bodies Close After General Dox and her crew attempted to bomb the Sacred Timeline's branches to restore order to the universe, they were incarcerated in the TVA, ready to be questioned by Wunmi Mosaku's Hunter B-15. Unfortunately, Dox was also met by Renslayer and Miss Minutes, traveling from the Citadel at the End of Time, where Renslayer had learned the truth of her past. After Dox refused to help Renslayer, the former TVA Judge crushed the General and her crew in the same machine used to torture Rafael Casal's Hunter X-5 earlier in the season. While this crushing thankfully wasn't shown on-screen, Miss Minutes' expression was more terrifying than the actual scene.
Miss Minutes' expression of sheer joy during this horrific moment proved that she has taken an extreme villainous turn in Loki season 2. In Loki season 2, episode 3, "1893," Miss Minutes explained to Victor Timely that He Who Remains had promised to make her a real body but never actually completed this task. Miss Minutes' hopes to have a physical body could explain her joy at the moment of General Dox's brutal death, as it's likely she's envious of individuals who have actual bodies. This perhaps implies Miss Minutes is happy to see these bodies destroyed, as twisted and abhorrent as it is to witness.
Miss Minutes Is The Most Surprising New MCU Villain Miss Minutes was introduced as a friendly face in Loki season 1, which made her villainous turn in season 2 even more shocking. However, there were hints in the MCU's Phase 4 that teased this evolution, as Miss Minutes was shown to be working directly for He Who Remains, and disseminating selective information to TVA staff only when she deemed necessary. While Miss Minutes has herself become more of a villain in Loki season 2, it's her manipulation of others, specifically Ravonna Renslayer, that makes her even more powerful and sinister. With two episodes of Loki season 2 set to release, Miss Minutes' villainy is surely far from over.
