  • Ahsoka and Sabine's presence on the planet Peridea was not a stalling point, but rather sets up a different story featuring the Mortis Gods and a search for a powerful entity.
  • Sabine's role in Ahsoka's journey remains uncertain, with theories suggesting she could represent the Mother/Abeloth or serve as a helpful ally, potentially taking on the role of the Daughter. Her future hints at a dark possible story.
A theory centering on Ahsoka season 2 may highlight a tragic, dark future for the character of Sabine Wren. After Ahsoka's climactic finale and ending, much of the discourse surrounding the 2023 Disney+ show naturally switched to what the future holds for its various characters. While the likes of Hera Syndulla, Ezra Bridger, and Grand Admiral Thrawn could be left off for appearances in The Mandalorian season 4, the next appearance of Sabine Wren and the titular Ahsoka will likely be held for Ahsoka season 2's story.
Ahsoka season 2 is yet to be officially announced by Disney or Lucasfilm with a release date unknown at this time.
As of the end of Ahsoka season 1, Ahsoka and Sabine are stranded in a neighboring galaxy on the planet of Peridea which will explain their absence from stories in the core Star Wars galaxy. However, Ahsoka season 1's final episode also set up several elements on Peridea that hint at the continuation of that specific story. From Baylan Skoll's Mortis God statues in Ahsoka to the appearance and meaning of Star Wars' Morai, the story ahead becomes clear for the Jedi. However, so much focus on Ahsoka has left one character's journey in limbo with one dark Ahsoka season 2 theory highlighting the potential future for Sabine Wren.
Ahsoka’s Ending Teased That Ahsoka Was Where She Was Meant ToBe - Along With Sabine Close While Ahsoka and Sabine being stranded on Peridea may have seemed like a stalling point for their story, it seems head writer Dave Filoni has big plans in place for the two that do not involve Grand Admiral Thrawn. The duo failed to stop the resurgence of Thrawn whose threat may now be left for the other heroes of the New Republic to deal with. As such, Ahsoka season 1 hinted strongly at this alternate future by building the foundations of a different story on Peridea.
Firstly, it is worth exploring how Baylan Skoll's story ties to the meaning of Ahsoka being left on Peridea. Baylan spent much of Ahsoka season 1 searching for an unknown entity calling to him from across galaxies. This led him to Peridea where he abandoned Thrawn, the Imperials, and his appearance Shin Hati to continue searching for something he thought could end the pointless cycle of differing regimes that has plagued the Star Wars galaxy. Eventually, Ahsoka season 1 ended with a shot of Baylan standing atop statues of Star Wars' Mortis Gods, hinting that the mythical, all-powerful Force deities will play a role in Star Wars’ future.
This led many to theorize that the entity Baylan seeks is Abeloth, a character from Star Wars Legends. The Mortis Gods of Star Wars canon consist of the Father, the Son, and the Daughter who represent the balance of the Force, the dark side, and the light side respectively. However, in the Star Wars Expanded Universe, stories were centered on the Mother, an exiled Force god who represents chaos. Through the Mortis Gods appearing in Ahsoka, the theory that Baylan is seeking out the Mother/Abeloth as she has the power to destroy the galaxy became prevalent among Star Wars fans.
This theory was supported by Ahsoka's appearances of Morai, a white owl shown to follow Ahsoka throughout the Saga, and Anakin Skywalker's Force ghost. According to Star Wars' official website, Morai and Anakin appeared to signal that Ahsoka is exactly where she is supposed to be. Given Morai's connection to the Daughter of Mortis and Anakin's connections to the Father, many have expanded the theory of Abeloth by stating that Ahsoka is on Peridea to stop whatever Baylan plans to unleash. Intriguingly though, one character is forgotten about in this greater plan: Sabine Wren.
Sabine Doesn't Fit Ahsoka's Mortis Pattern - So Where Does She Fit? Given that Ahsoka seemingly fits the Daughter's role, Anakin fits the Father's, and Baylan fits the Son's, the question of where Sabine fits into this journey remains. One theory hints that Sabine actually serves as the representative of the Mother, Abeloth herself. This could set up an incredibly dark journey for Sabine going forward and would certainly work with slotting her into the overall story being built on Peridea.
Another possibility is that Sabine is simply a helpful ally of Ahsoka's. When Ahsoka first encountered the Mortis Gods during Star Wars: The Clone Wars, she was chosen by the Daughter to be the latter's close ally with the Force deity even passing her life force onto Ahsoka to save the young Jedi's life. This explains why Morai, who had a history with the Daughter, began following Ahsoka around. As such, Sabine could fill this role and could even take on the role of the Daughter from Ahsoka depending on how the journey ends. Regardless, Sabine’s future in Ahsoka is certainly intriguing and could hint at a dark possible future.
