Marvel Studios has confirmed the introductions of many new characters who will change the shape of the Marvel Cinematic Universe forever. Since the MCU kicked off with 2008's Iron Man, dozens of heroes and villains from Marvel Comics have debuted in the live-action franchise, and each new addition brings a fresh perspective, impressive abilities, and expansive storylines to the ever-growing universe. What started with just the six original members of the Avengers in Phase 1 has become a whole world of heroes, and even more are on the horizon, as Marvel Studios has confirmed the introductions of many exciting heroes and villains in the remainder of the MCU's Multiverse Saga.
In the wake of Avengers: Endgame and the conclusion of the Infinity Saga, Marvel Studios used Phase 4 to introduce a whole host of new characters to the MCU. The likes of She-Hulk, Moon Knight, Kate Bishop, Shang-Chi, and the Eternals all made their debuts in Phase 4, all delivering storylines that will soon culminate in Phase 6's crossover events, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. Before that, however, there are many more characters that are set to make their first MCU appearances, with upcoming MCU projects in theaters and on Disney+ already being confirmed to be revealing some of the franchise's most exciting and powerful new additions.
Related 10 MCU Characters Introduced At The Wrong Time The MCU has introduced a wealth of characters from Marvel Comics to the big screen, but there are times when the franchise"s timing is a little off.
10 Simon Williams, A.K.A. Wonder Man Yahya Abdul-Mateen II Will Portray Simon Williams In Wonder Man Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is expected to debut as Simon Williams in Marvel Studios' upcoming Wonder Man series on Disney+. With the inclusion of Demetrius Grosse as Eric Williams, Simon's brother and the Grim Reaper, Wonder Man could explore Simon Williams' origin story as the eponymous superhero, which sees him begin as an antagonist to the Avengers, yet later becomes a member of the team himself. Wonder Man's ion-based powers make him one of the strongest and most formidable characters in the Marvel Universe, so his debut in the MCU's future will be something to behold., though a release date for his debut solo series hasn't yet been confirmed.
9 Richard Rider, A.K.A. Nova Cast & Release Date For Nova Have Yet To Be Confirmed After the Nova Empire debuted during 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy, many were expecting the organization's signature hero to make an appearance, yet it wasn't until 2022 when Marvel Studios' Nova series was confirmed to be in development. This series will bring Richard Rider into the MCU, a New York high-school student who is chosen to be the new Nova, empowered with the abilities of a Nova Centurion but given no instructions on how to use them. Nova's abilities range from flight, access to the Nova Force, invulnerability, and the ability to influence gravitational fields, which set him up to be an incredibly cinematic hero in the MCU's future.
Nova is expected to explore Thanos' unseen attack on Xandar that took place prior to the events of Avengers: Infinity War.
8 Parker Robbins, A.K.A. The Hood Anthony Ramos Will Portray Parker Robbins In Ironheart Phase 5's Ironheart will expand on the story of Dominique Thorne's Riri Williams from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but will pit her against a new foe in the form of Parker Robbins' Hood. Anthony Ramos will portray Robbins in Ironheart, a petty criminal who finds himself enhanced with superhuman abilities after an encounter with a demon. Robbins' demonic connections have led many to speculate that Mephisto could be making an appearance during Ironheart. In the upcoming series, Parker Robbins has been noted as an ally to Riri Williams, which may mark a change in his Marvel Comics backstory, though he will experiment with magic, as opposed to Williams' technical mind.
7 Jennifer Kale Sasheer Zamata Will Portray Jennifer Kale In Agatha: Darkhold Diaries Sasheer Zamata has been confirmed to be portraying Jennifer Kale in Agatha: Darkhold Diaries. The WandaVision spinoff will focus on Kathryn Hahn's Agatha Harkness, but will also introduce a new coven of witches to the MCU, of while Kale could be a member of. In Marvel Comics, Jennifer Kale is a powerful sorceress who discovers connections to several prominent characters, including Ghost Rider, Man-Thing, and Doctor Strange. The latter recruits her to be a member of the Witches, though she would later become a member of the Midnight Sons - who have been rumored for the MCU - so her debut could provide another tease of the potential MCU team.
6 Samuel Sterns, A.K.A. The Leader Tim Blake Nelson Will Reprise His Incredible Hulk Role In Captain America: Brave New World Close Technically, Tim Blake Nelson's Samuel Sterns is far from a future MCU character, as he originally debuted during 2008's The Incredible Hulk. However, Nelson will be returning as a new version of Sterns, the Leader, in 2025's Captain America: Brave New World, transformed after being exposed to Bruce Banner's gamma-irradiated blood. The fact that he's returning as a completely revamped iteration of Sterns means he certainly counts as a new addition, especially since the Leader will have far more villainous intentions than Sterns. It will be great to see Nelson return to the MCU after so long, and interesting to see the dynamic between him and Anthony Mackie's Captain America.
Samuel Sterns originally tried to help Bruce Banner cure himself of the Hulk, but found himself transformed into a Hulk-like creature after an open wound was exposed to Banner's blood.
5 Sabra Shira Haas Will Portray The Mutant Sabra In Captain America: Brave New World Following Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019, Marvel Studios has slowly begun to introduce mutant characters into the MCU, though this process has been very slow. So far, only Ms. Marvel's Kamala Khan and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's Namor have been confirmed as mutants in the main MCU timeline, but Captain America: Brave New World will introduce another: Sabra. Shira Haas' new MCU character is based on the Marvel Comics mutant who has the ability to transfer her life force to others, and grant superpowers to other individuals. The character is controversial in Marvel Comics, so Marvel Studios will be taking a fresh approach to Sabra's MCU adaptation.
4 Frank Castle, A.K.A. The Punisher Jon Bernthal Will Return As The Punisher In Daredevil: Born Again Close Jon Bernthal will be joining his Marvel Television co-stars Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio in Daredevil: Born Again, reprising his role of Frank Castle, a.k.a. the Punisher. Bernthal's Daredevil role was so popular that he was gifted his own two-season spinoff on Netflix, The Punisher, which explored his character in more detail. While Cox and D'Onofrio have made cameo appearances as Daredevil and Kingpin, respectively, in previous MCU projects ahead of Echo and Daredevil: Born Again, the Phase 5 series will be Bernthal's first foray into the MCU canon, as the canon status previous appearances in Daredevil and The Punisher is still disputed among MCU audiences.
3 Eric Brooks, A.K.A. Blade Mahershala Ali Will Portray Eric Brooks In Marvel Studios' Blade Reboot Mahershala Ali was announced to be cast as the MCU's Eric Brooks in 2019, and despite production issues behind the scenes of Marvel Studios' Blade reboot, Ali is still set to debut with a prospective release date of November 7, 2025. As a dhampir, Blade has vampire physiology, but none of the weaknesses, making him the perfect vampire hunter. His MCU debut is expected to explore the mythos of the Ebony Blade, which appeared in Eternals - as did Ali's first voice cameo as Blade. There's a lot of pressure on Marvel Studios to get Blade right, but production now appears to be on the right track.
Mahershala Ali previously portrayed Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes in Marvel Television's Luke Cage, but will have a more primary role as the MCU's Eric Brooks, a.k.a. Blade.
2 Wade Wilson, A.K.A. Deadpool Ryan Reynolds Will Join The MCU Permanently In Deadpool 3 Close Ryan Reynolds iteration of the Merc-with-a-Mouth Deadpool is far from new, but 2024's Deadpool 3 will mark his first official appearance in the MCU proper, after having a starring spot in Fox's X-Men franchise. Wade Wilson's mutant genes were unlocked in an effort to cure his terminal cancer in 2016's Deadpool, and since then, he has used his regenerative healing factor to fight criminals as the antihero Deadpool. Reynolds' fan-favorite character's MCU introduction will take place in the franchise's first R-rated feature film, and is set to explore Fox's now defunct X-Men universe, even bringing back Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, before Deadpool makes the move to the MCU permanently.
1 Reed Richards, A.K.A. Mister Fantastic (& The Rest Of The Fantastic Four) Fantastic Four's Cast Has Yet To Be Confirmed By Marvel Studios A variant of Reed Richards portrayed by John Krasinski has already made an appearance in the MCU's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but 2025's Fantastic Four reboot is set to debut the MCU's main version of the leader of the Fantastic Four, along with his superpowered family. The introduction of Marvel's First Family in the MCU is highly-anticipated, and with WandaVision's Matt Shakman taking the helm as director, the project is bound to exceed expectations. Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Ben Grimm, and Johnny Storm are expected to become cornerstones of the Marvel Cinematic Universe going forward, though Fantastic Four's cast is yet to be confirmed.
