It Took 5 Years, But J.J. Abrams Finally Made A DC Project - And It Looks Amazing

Summary
  • The first trailer for Batman: Caped Crusader, a new animated series produced by Matt Reeves, Bruce Timm, and J.J. Abrams, has been released.
  • Batman: Caped Crusader will be J.J. Abrams' first DC project produced with Warner Bros., despite him entering a deal with the studio five years ago.
  • J.J. Abrams' Black Superman movie is also still in development, but the true extent of Abrams' relationship with Warner Bros. has been under scrutiny.
J.J. Abrams' DC Universe dreams have finally come true, as the first trailer for the animated Batman: Caped Crusader series has been released. Batman: Caped Crusader was first announced at the WarnerMedia Upfront event in 2021, and the series is expected to reimagine the mythology of Batman in a deeper exploration of the Dark Knight's noir-style roots in DC Comics. Despite being separate to the mainstream DC Universe, which will kick off in the coming months with Creature Commandos and Superman, Batman: Caped Crusader appears to be an exciting addition to DC's repertoire.
Set to premiere on August 1 on Amazon Prime Video, Batman: Caped Crusader has been produced by Bruce Timm, who worked on 1992's Batman: The Animated Series, Matt Reeves, who has been helming DC's The Batman franchise, and acclaimed producer and director J.J. Abrams. While Timm and Reeves have a solid relationship and proven experience with DC, Abrams' history with the superhero giant is more complex. With the release of the animated Batman: Caped Crusader series, Abrams' DC dreams are finally coming true, and they may not stop there.
