One iconic Doctor Doom moment from Marvel Comics has been imagined in fan art ahead of the release of Marvel Studios'
Avengers: Secret Wars. Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige confirmed the development of Avengers: Secret Wars in 2022, with the MCU project presumably being adapted from Marvel Comics' two Secret Wars crossover events from 1984 and 2015. The more recent Secret Wars storyline deals heavily with the concept of the multiverse, as a catastrophic incursion destroys the Marvel Universe, but this storyline also sees legendary Marvel supervillain Doctor Doom become the omnipotent protector of the survivors, raising excitement for Doctor Doom's much-anticipated MCU debut.
During Marvel Comics' Secret Wars event in 2015, Doctor Doom - going by the God Emperor Doom moniker - established Battleworld from the fragmented pieces of destroyed universes. When new survivors, including the villainous group the Cabal, make their way to Battleworld, Doom quickly dispatches of them. In this spar, Doom rips the Mad Titan Thanos' skeleton from his body, which has now been depicted in fan art shared by Hazzaa Jarrar ahead of Avengers: Secret Wars' release in the MCU's Phase 6.
Doctor Doom has been suspected to be appearing in the MCU's Multiverse Saga, which could set up a huge role for the villain in Avengers: Secret Wars.
Related The Problems With Marvel Making Doctor Doom MCU's Secret Wars Villain Kang’s presumed dead, so Doctor Doom could still be the villain for Avengers: Secret Wars, yet honestly, he’s not the best villain for the job. There’s Still Enough Time To Introduce Doctor Doom Before Avengers: Secret Wars Close Since Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox was finalized in 2019, Marvel Studios has had the opportunity to introduce Doctor Doom into the MCU, but the supervillain has so far not been seen or mentioned.
Doctor Doom is a key player in Marvel Comics' Secret Wars storyline, so he's expected to make his debut prior to Avengers: Secret Wars in May 2027. However, now that Marvel Studios is halfway through the MCU's Multiverse Saga, concerns have been raised that it may be too late to introduce a villain on the scale of Doctor Doom, and give him ample set-up and development before giving him a major role in Phase 6.
Luckily, there is still plenty of opportunity for Doctor Doom to debut in the MCU and set up his huge role in the franchise's future. Doctor Doom has been rumored to appear in Fantastic Four - with popular fan-casts placing Cillian Murphy in the role - which is currently releasing two years before Secret Wars, giving Doctor Doom plenty of time for development. Popular theories also suggest Doom may be introduced as a hero before taking a villainous turn, and
Avengers: Secret Wars could be the perfect place for this, as he may save many notable MCU heroes during an incursion only to be corrupted by his newfound power.
