Everyone Who Dies In Venom: The Last Dance

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Venom: The Last Dance.
Venom: The Last Dance rounds out the Sony Spider-Man Universe trilogy with a high-stakes story that results in the deaths of several main characters. As the last installment of a series, Venom: The Last Dance"s ending neatly ties up the character arcs of Eddie and his titular symbiote friend. This time, the duo faces off against creatures called Xenophages, sent to Earth by Venom 3"s villain Knull. Although Knull"s role in the film is not an active one, the events he sets into motion have big consequences.
This leads into Venom: The Last Dance"s post-credit scene, which teases a future for the powerful Marvel Comics villain beyond the story of Eddie Brock. In the film"s final act, Venom and Eddie find themselves at a military base deep beneath Area 51 that examines symbiotes after the monstrous Xenophages pursue them across North America. As Eddie and Venom face off against the Xenophages alongside other symbiotes, leading to several Venom 3 Easter eggs, the stakes become higher as various characters meet an unfortunate fate.
Venom Dies To Save Eddie Brock And The World Venom Adds A New Meaning To Lethal Protector Close Undoubtedly the biggest death in Venom: The Last Dance is the titular character"s. At the end of the film, Venom and Eddie realize that the Xenophages cannot be defeated with sheer force and that more will only keep coming as long as the Codex remains. The Codex formed as a result of Eddie and Venom"s partnership, with the film establishing early that one will have to die to destroy it. Therefore, Venom takes matters into his own hands and sacrifices himself to destroy the Xenophages and The Codex, subsequently saving Earth from Knull"s conquest.
The Codex is required by Knull to free him from his prison on Venom"s home planet of Klyntar, hence the Xenophage attacks against Earth to retrieve it.
Venom drags the Xenophages beneath an acid shower housed in Area 51 and aids Rex Strickland, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor in Venom 3"s ensemble cast, in turning it on. As the latter does so, the former ejects Eddie. Venom and the Xenophages are destroyed by the acid rain with help from a nearby explosion, destroying The Codex and saving the world at the cost of Venom"s life.
The Army's Symbiotes All Die Except Agony As Do Their Hosts As alluded to, the ending of Venom: The Last Dance sees more symbiotes join Eddie and Venom"s fight against the Xenophages. This results in several characters serving as their hosts, including one named Jim, a security guard. Eventually, all of the symbiotes are killed, a notable one from Marvel Comics being Lasher. The symbiote who bonded with Jim is among the dead, with both perishing in the battle. Notably, Lasher"s host, a doctor named Sadie Christmas, survives the film despite the symbiote dying.

The other symbiotes are admittedly less clear in the film. Even those above, like Lasher, are not mentioned by name but are similar enough to their comic counterpart to distinguish. The symbiote who bonds with Jim is seemingly Phage from Marvel Comics, though this is again unspecified. The other symbiotes include a brown, mud-like one, an orange one imbued with fire powers, and a dual-headed blue/black/green alien. Each of these is killed in the final battle with the Xenophages.
Rex Strickland Blows Himself Up To Defeat Knull's Xenophages Self-Sacrifice Is A Common Theme Of Venom 3 Close The explosion that aided Venom in defeating the Xenophages was actually caused by Ejiofor"s Rex Strickland. Strickland was caught in the acid rain and chose to sacrifice himself, pulling a grenade from his belt. As the grenade explodes, Venom, the Xenophages, and Strickland are taken along with it. This marks somewhat of a noble end for Strickland who, before this, was an antagonistic force in the movie.
Patrick Mulligan And Toxin Are Killed By A Xenophage The First Casualty Among The Symbiotes Close Aside from the five symbiotes who aid Eddie and Venom at the end of Venom: The Last Dance, there is another introduced earlier. This symbiote is named Toxin and was teased in Venom: Let There Be Carnage"s ending, bonded with Stephen Graham"s Patrick Mulligan. Mulligan and Toxin spent the entire film confined to a cell beneath Area 51 until the Xenophage attack in the film"s last act. In order to allow Eddie, Venom, and The Codex to escape, Toxin faces off with the Xenophage to minimal effect, killing both the symbiote and its host.
Eddie Brock Kills One Of Strickland's Soldiers Eddie's Conscience Is Marred By An Act Of Self-Defense Midway through the film, Eddie and Venom are pursued by Strickland"s men in the Nevada desert. In an act of self-defense, Eddie turns one of the soldier"s guns against them and kills them. Although the moment does not have as big consequences or narrative weight as it probably should have, it is mentioned by a distraught Eddie later. Given that it is also the first time Eddie has killed anyone himself in the Venom trilogy, it is worth noting as one of Venom: The Last Dance"s many deaths.
Dr. Payne's Brother Is Killed By Lightning Setting Up Payne's Transition Into The Symbiote Agony A newcomer to Venom 3"s cast is Juno Temple as Dr. Payne. Payne"s first scene involves her waking from a nightmare that recounts the day her brother was killed. The scars on Payne"s left arm and her inability to use it came from this day, as her brother was struck by lightning. The duo are shown running from a storm holding hands; Payne"s brother is struck and killed, leaving Payne alive to carry on his dream of working among the stars.
Numerous Soldiers Are Killed By Xenophages Venom 3's Final Battle Is A Bloody One Close In the final act of Venom: The Last Dance, the battle between the Xenophages and the forces of Earth intensifies. Not only are Eddie, Venom, and the other symbiotes fighting against Knull"s minions but so too are Strickland"s men. As a result, many soldiers are killed by the Xenophages as the creatures seek Eddie, Venom, and The Codex.
Everyone Who Survives In Venom: The Last Dance Close With the many casualties of Venom: The Last Dance explored, it is worth recapping which characters survived the film. Of course, the main one worth mentioning is Tom Hardy"s Eddie Brock. Venom sacrifices himself to save Eddie, allowing the character to visit the Statue of Liberty in honor of his alien friend who longed to see the iconic U.S. landmark. Among the other symbiotes that aided Venom in the fight against the Xenophages, only one survived. This symbiote is named Agony and is prominent in Marvel Comics, surviving alongside her new host, Dr. Payne.
Other supporting characters of Venom 3 that survive the events of the story are Sadie Christmas and the family embarking on an alien-sight-seeing road trip, hosted by Rhys Ifans" Martin. Sadie and the family are saved by Dr. Payne; earlier in the fight, Payne drives the family to safety and reunion with their lovable do before returning, hosting Agony, and saving Sadie. While several good guys survived Venom 3, Knull remained confined to his Klyntar prison, thus surviving and being left off for future movies.
Agony could be the lead in a future Venom movie, potentially opposing Knull, as she is now the last surviving symbiote in the Sony Spider-Man Universe.
Another character placed in danger by a Xenophage attack against Eddie and Venom is Mrs. Chen, a character from the first two Venom movies. Luckily, Mrs. Chen survives the fight as the titular symbiote and his host are separated and imprisoned before being taken to Area 51. Mrs. Chen is not seen again in Venom: The Last Dance, rendering her lucky enough to be among the film"s survivors and not another character who faces death in the final installment in the trilogy.
