Jude Law Says He Wasn’t A Fan Of His Captain Marvel Villain & Reveals His Suggestions To Change Him Were Ignored

Jude Law looks back on his Captain Marvel character and explains the changes he would have made to the MCU villain. Although Captain Marvel"s MCU journey has been limited in comparison to most of her fellow Avengers, Carol Danvers has proved her worth as one of the most powerful Marvel superheroes in two Avengers movies and two solo outings. Carol Danvers defeated Captain Marvel"s Yon-Rogg in the 1990s and The Marvels" Dar-Benn in 2026.
In an interview with GQ for the magazine"s "Men of the Year" event, actor Jude Law discusses his one-off MCU villain role. Law describes Captain Marvel"s Yon-Rogg as "a bit dry" and reveals he "wanted to be a bit funnier" in the role. Law also mentions that he likely won"t reprise his MCU role. Although Yon-Rogg got his fair amount of screentime in Captain Marvel, he wasn"t given too much to do beyond betraying Carol Danvers and being defeated by her at the end. "Would I do another one? Probably not,” he says. “It was all right. [My character] was a bit dry. I wanted to be a bit funnier. I was hoping to be a bit more of a sort of moustache-twirling villain, and I think I kept coming up with ideas that were not going in this film. And so I just sort of did what I was told.”
