Marvel Studios" X-Men "97 will be the first project based on the mutants produced by the studio, and the Disney+ animated series" showrunner has now responded to a reported synopsis for the series. X-Men "97 continues from where the iconic X-Men: The Animated Series left off. X-Men "97 plot details were previously revealed by showrunner Beau DeMayo, who has now responded to a reported new synopsis for the upcoming Disney+ animated series.On Twitter, DeMayo debunked an alleged new X-Men "97 synopsis that had been making the rounds online.

Interestingly, the showrunner did not debunk the other part of the X-Men "97 info that has been going around, which comes from fans finding out a copyright filing for the show with a projected release date for X-Men "97"s first episode to be January 3, 2024. Previously, DeMayo commented on a rumored X-Men "97 delay. If the new info is accurate, the show will go from a Fall 2023 release to early 2024.
How X-Men ‘97 Could Impact The MCU

X-Men "97 is a continuation of a beloved animated series; however, the show could also be important to the Marvel Cinematic Universe"s upcoming plans for the mutants. Charles Xavier appeared in his attire from X-Men: The Animated Series when Patrick Stewart returned to play the character in the MCU, thanks to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. That version of Professor X hailed from Earth-838.
Charles Xavier and the rest of the Illuminati from Earth-838 were brutally murdered by the Scarlet Witch. Marvel might have more plans for Earth-838, which could include that universe"s X-Men banding together to come to the main Earth after Wanda to get revenge for Charles" death. While Earth-838 might not be a live-action adaptation of the X-Men: The Animated Series characters, that universe"s Charles Xavier was clearly inspired by the one in the series.
X-Men "97 could be Marvel"s covert way of bringing back a beloved series while also setting the stage for where the X-Men might appear in the MCU. Earth-838"s versions of the X-Men might be variants from the animated series" team, with the reboot show on Disney+ making a larger audience aware of those versions of the characters before their variants possibly appear in live-action. The latest Deadpool 3 rumors claim that Halle Berry"s Storm, James Marsden"s Cyclops, and Famke Janssen"s Jean Grey all return in the film, so maybe X-Men "97 will serve to set up that possible arrival.
