MCU"s Mutants Plan Must Not Lead To Avengers vs X-Men

Although a new X-Men franchise is expected to debut in the MCU within the next few years, the endgame for Marvel's mutants shouldn't be a war with the Avengers. With the gradual introduction of mutants in the MCU such as Namor and Ms. Marvel, it's only a matter of time before the X-Men arrive as a new team of heroes dedicated to protecting their own species and humanity at large. However, a culminating conflict with Earth's Mightiest Heroes would detract from all that the new MCU X-Men can be.
The two teams of heroes have clashed in the past and will likely continue to do so in the source material. Arguably their biggest battle to date was over the Phoenix Force, as seen in the 2012 crossover, Avengers vs X-Men. In the story, the X-Men wanted to use the Phoenix Force to save mutantkind which was nearing extinction, while the Avengers feared the Phoenix and its potential for mass destruction. Given its potential, this arc could still be used as the basis for a future X-Men-Avengers crossover movie in the MCU, it shouldn't be their ultimate story.
