Elizabeth Olsen Still Doesn"t Miss Playing Scarlet Witch, Even If She"s Now Fired By Marvel

Elizabeth Olsen addresses her potential return as the Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Olsen first appeared as Wanda Maximoff in the MCU in 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier through a post-credits scene. Then, the actress got a major role in Avengers: Age of Ultron, with the Scarlet Witch only growing in popularity over the years. After Disney+'s WandaVision turned Wanda into one of the MCU's most beloved characters, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness gave her a villain arc that seemingly ended with Wanda's death. Olsen now addresses her MCU future.
Speaking with The White Lotus' Meghann Fahy for Variety's Actors on Actors series, Olsen got honest about her future as the Scarlet Witch. Fahy asked the MCU actress if she missed playing the Scarlet Witch, with Olsen honestly saying, "No, I don’t." Olsen went on to explain what she meant, revealing that she feels proud of the work that has been done with the character and that she would be okay if she was told she was "fired from Marvel movies" after all she has done with Wanda. Check out her full quote below:
No, I don’t. I think it’s been almost 10 years of playing her. And I’ve loved it. And I think the reason why I am not calling Kevin Feige every day with ideas is because I’m really proud of what we were able to do. I think “WandaVision” was a really surprising opportunity. If someone were to tell me that I’m fired from Marvel movies, I will feel proud of what we made. And I really am just trying to figure out how to load up other films and characters so it becomes less about the Marvel of it all.

How Likely Is Scarlet Witch's MCU Return After Her Doctor Strange 2 Death? Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' ending saw Wanda realize she was wrong to leave a path of destruction in her search for Billy and Tommy — her twin sons with Vision — across the multiverse. Wanda then sacrificed herself to destroy all the Darkholds — the dark magic book that had corrupted her — across all universes. Wanda seemingly died at the end of the film, and there are little to no clues as to what the MCU's future holds for her.
Olsen recently shared a grim Scarlet Witch update about how there are no immediate plans for the character to return, with the actress confirming there has been no contact yet. Still, when being asked if there will be more coming from the Scarlet Witch, Olsen was excited about the possibility, saying, "Yes, I hope so." There are a number of ways in which the Scarlet Witch could return in the MCU, chief of them being the Agatha: Coven of Chaos series — a WandaVision spinoff focusing on the show's villain. When asked by Deadline in March if she would appear in the series, Olsen said, “I think I’ll be back.”
Olsen told Digital Spy that she hopes to delve deeper into comedy with the Scarlet Witch, saying, "I feel like there’s a lot more humor to be had with her." She is also looking to "give [Wanda] some redemption" following her murderous rampage. A redemption arc from Wanda could come with the Scarlet Witch helping save the multiverse from Kang in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and/or Avengers: Secret Wars. The Scarlet Witch also has close ties to the X-Men in the comics — who will soon debut in the MCU — with a version of the House of M storyline possibly being in her future, should the Scarlet Witch return.
